I got my liberal talking points from The View this morning while awaiting a body shop estimate in their lobby.

    • Joe’s disregard of the law is more humane than Trump’s would have been who was going to put them in concentration camps (uh ok)
    • Trumps fault for scuttling the legislation (true)
    • It’s been a crisis the whole time since it has taken hotel rooms off the market driving hotel inflation in NYC (that’s the key concern for sure)
    • Sister Act 2 is coming to Broadway (hell yea!)

For too long, Congressional members have been more concerned with keeping their party's and individual power, and they've effectively neutered themselves and ceded much of their authority to the other two branches of government.

The Trump era policies Biden reversed were COVID pandemic policies. Ones that the courts would have likely reversed sooner rather than later, because the pandemic was declared to be over.

Trump accomplished nothing when it comes to border security. And 2019 saw more border apprehensions than any in the previous 15 years. Remind me again, who was POTUS in 2019?

2020 saw a precipitous drop, but that was caused by COVID. Trump enacted remain in Mexico, and the fact that the pandemic caused people not to leave their homes all over the world. 2021-2023 saw a sharp increase once the pandemic ended. And had Biden kept remain in Mexico intact, it would have caused a major problem eventually. Any "border" can only withstand so much pressure before it breaks and breaches. Hundreds of thousands of immigrants waiting in Mexico just at our doorstep is a crisis waiting to happen.

Did you know, undocumented immigration is actually dropping since the calendar turned to 2024? If you amortize the number of crossers 2019 - 2023, the numbers are actually quite steady. They only look skewed because of the pandemic.

Now, why did immigration increase in 2019? Because the President at the time decided he wasn't happy with the fact a lot of Northern Triangle C. Americans were entering, so he decided to cut aid to those countries. The unintended consequence was more people in those countries had nothing to eat, and no money to buy anything, and did the desperate act of heading north to eek out a living. Not only did Trump accomplish nothing, he stoked the fire and made the problem worse!

A draconian bill or XO is not what we need. We need a Gang of 8 style bill while working to make poor countries like the Northern Triangle more stable. We have a immigrant labor need, and if you really want to slow down undocumented immigration, you have to give people a reasons to stay home, not prod them to leave because things are so terrible they feel they have no other choice.

"Now her fortunes have changed drastically."
      • extremely; very.
"the ending was drastically different from what I'd expected."
126 days ago, Biden said, "I've done all I can do, folks, via executive action on the border."

3.5 years in and 5 months before an election, he has changed his tune. Tuesday Biden said, “The border is not a political issue to be weaponized.”

Now, the Biden administration announced an executive order Tuesday claiming it will close the border after illegal migrant encounters hit 2,500 per day between points of entry for seven consecutive days.

So where does "drastically" come into play here? 2,500 per day sounds like an insane amount. If it's 2,500 now, what was it to be "drastically" reduced from? 10,000 a day or more? 10,000 people a day for 3.5 years would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 million illegals. How would our healthcare and school systems be able to take on that many people?

Gets better. The 2,500 per day, was 5,000, under that magnificent pile of bipartisan shit the pubs so evilly declined to pass (plus court appointed tax payer funded lawyers for all illegal entrants! Oprah would be jealous... "a lawyer para usted, and a lawyer para usted...")...

....and would you look at that?

He had the power all the @#$^$ along to for this. But just a few months ago, why po Jo was lamenting all about how he was hamstrung into paralysis by the mean ol mesny mean pubs...

Apparently, while we were all distracted with Ukraine, Hamas cheerleaders throughout democrat party and all over our most prestigious campii, and the weaponization of our criminal justice system, the pub house musta gave Doh! Biden new powers!

    Who knew...

    Lol!

He doesn't have the power though. I expect this to be reversed in court. If you want something permanent than pass a law

Does Biden truly have the power? The ACLU has already promised to sue. Again, had this been the bill that Trump told Congress not to pass, different story. But XOs face a lot more scrutiny. Also wondering why the bill that the R's help construct was bad? I thought it was far too draconian, and happy it didn't pass. But why didn't the Right wing like it? Because Trump said no? Or were there things in there you opposed?

So is the R party actually putting forth serious legislative proposals regarding the border? Or do they think building that big beautiful wall will be a panacea? It's either that or they just bitch about bit incessantly without presenting ideas to actually address it. Profoundly useful of them.

For those saying Biden gave Republicans what they wanted, he didn’t. This is still weak immigration policy.

Biden just wants credit for “doing something” to secure the border without actually accomplishing anything… despite apparently being handcuffed by Republicans in the House, he managed to do this at the 11th hour prior to an election. Which begs the question, “why now.”

Democrats will undoubtedly dismiss any skepticism regarding the motive based on the timing.

    Ridiculous as always.

5,000 *illegals* allowed per day???? At that point, they're not even illegals anymore (the endgame, of course). Plus, attorneys... paid for by taxpayers...

Draconian?!?!? Do you even have a clue what the word even means???

TBL: that *bipartisan* stink bomb wasn't nothing but more screwing our citizens in order to cow tow to potential future dummyrat voters (Biden's EO is actually less of a scew job than that, and easier to overturn. All we have to do is kick his sorry ass out of the WH and send him to his awaiting nursing home).

If a person enters through a legal port of entry, surrenders him/herself to ICE, and requests asylum, they are here legally. Therefore, they are not illegal. They are undocumented.

And closing down the border completely is draconian, which the bill would've given that power to the POTUS. That is awful for businesses the rely and a regular flow of goods and services. Not to mention thousands of American citizen children who live in Mexico, but regularly cross to attend school in the US. Not to mention tourists and other businesspeople who cross daily. All this is draconian and unnecessary.

And last time I looked, the Constitution and its protections aren't just for citizens. It covers all persons within the jurisdiction of the US, including undocumented immigrants here on asylum claim. Don't they deserve the Constitutional protection of legal representation?

I likely am not voting for a POTUS this time around.

They both suck, unless something changes like one of them isn’t on the ticket.
