I would think that is a priority, but have to find the right person. I want to see someone with proven productivity and not just potential
The 24/25 roster is up so it looks like Berte was the only roster casualty via the portal. 11 scholarship players so still room to add a few hopefully. 2024-25 Women's Basketball Roster - Florida Gators
That's hard to say. I think we need a couple of more pieces. Aliyah, Laila, Jeriah, Eriny, and Rashaya probably bc of experience. I could see Liv, Me'arah, Kylee, or Alexia vying for those spots pretty early though.
I think we will add at least 2. Any less would concern me. If I looked at the roster right 6 of the 11 will be gone after this season. I look for us to add more, particularly in the So and Jr classes.
We definitely need to sign more front court players. Kyle, Matharu & Reynolds are almost definitely starters, IMO. I would guess McGill as a starter if she is as good a projected and then since we need a forward in there either Kitts or Mobley.
we need 2 more guards on the roster, we have 3 total who are actually guards. We need some experience, and another 4 with some playing experience to me. Just my thoughts
so frustrating, you literally cant get any information on if and who we are trying to recruit out of the portal. If we are even giving an effort. No matter who I contact on campus or wherever it is a dead end. I just dont understand the big secrecy to this. I see all these other schools hitting the portal hard and it seems like we are just not doing anything. Two years ago information was flowing and now I cant get a trickle of info
Always been a peeve of mine. Most of your elite schools have readily available information and discussions. Feels like we snuff out possible discussion and interest. Portal entries stop the 1st though I think... hopefully soon we get answers. 100% agree we need another guard or 2 and a proven 4.
I love this hire. Hated to see her go years ago. Susie Gardner Returns to Gainesville as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach - Florida Gators
Some very talented newcomers joining us, but you never know how quickly true freshmen can become impact players. Some are stars from the opening tipoff, others won't start to shine until March, or the next season. Anyway, I see the program taking a big step forward.
Right now I don't see us moving forward too much. Probably 11-12th in conference currently but a couple of more key pieces can jump us into the top 8. If all the freshmen excel I could see us there, but that's rare. We got some holes on the roster that need to be addressed and hopefully will be in short order.
I swear I am reaching out to anyone who might have any knowledge on campus and it is like they just dont share information. I can get information about any other sport on campus except womens basketball and I am not going to lie it just makes me so disheartened and almost disinterested. They are dropping the ball over there right now with fans I hate to say it. They are so open with us during the actual season but when people like me and I know others want to drum up more interest it is like thanks but no thanks. I am just at a loss, and not even insiders here want to even reach out over there to see if anything is going on. I can research all day long and nothing is on social media really with our intentions or who we are reaching out to. This is my last post moaning about this, I am hoping someone from PR or something over there will read this board and see someone is interested in some type of updates.
It doesn't help that we're adding a legit 1-seed contender and the defending Big 12 Champions to the league. Tier 1 South Carolina Texas LSU Oklahoma ----------- Ole Miss Vanderbilt Alabama Tennessee ------------ Texas A&M Florida Miss.State Auburn ----------- Kentucky Georgia Arkansas Missouri There's not much separation once you get past these 4 squads. Who knows how Tennessee will look with a new coach.
with a few additions we can be in the 2nd group very easily, first 5 or 6 we have are top tier talent. I hear Kyle has lost a good amount of weight(she wasnt big anyways to me) and improving her quickness. If we can get a few more pieces then we can be really competitive. I would move Kentucky into that 2nd tier towards the top...Bama and Ole Miss I think take steps backwards.

So does the new Assistant Head Coach have anyone follow her from prior program to UF? Anyone good on the Mercer ladies basketball team roster?
we just continue to not do anything in the portal..big pieces picked up by TN and KY again today. We have brought in one lady who while has a lot of talent has never been a real contributor at her old school.
