It is very dumb. I wonder if the folks who justified Russia's trumped up bullshit against Brittany Griner will defend this.

While the law is unduly harsh, hunters/gun owners should always start with luggage that is completely empty and carefully monitor every single item that goes into their luggage. I do that EVERY time I fly or travel to another country. I check every compartment, open every pill bottle to confirm the contents, etc. I take nothing for granted and do not rely on memory. If going diving abroad, I don't even bring a dive knife with me.

If he did this in Jamaica, he'd be facing a 15 year min man.

In fact, I think most countries would likely have some prohibition against bringing in firearms or ammo. The 2A is part of the US Constitution, not a book of the Bible.

US tourists accounted for ~ 50% of the tourist visitors between 2015 and 2022. This news story will not affect this American in the least.

Here is one thought - don't put bullets in your damned suitcases that are intended to go into the hold of an aircraft.

Perhaps this island gov is seeking a big payout from the U.S. to release him.

He will get out of it. Might take 6 months. But zero chance he’s stuck in there over a year let alone that whole sentence. What a dumbass.

Curious that they brought it with them to the islands.
TSA didn’t find it when they flew in?
I guess it could have been in checked bag but then you unpack and find, I certainly wouldn’t try to fly again knowing it was in my luggage.
