Can you imagine the embarrassment of losing our Homecoming Game to Kentucky...yet for the 4th time-in-a-row?

I can imagine it, sadly. My best hopes and wishes go otherwise.

Being Kentucky's bitch is not an option. I get it, after that 30 year run we are their super bowl, but.....

I think the season will already be won or lost by the time of the SWAC game. And if it comes down to that being the “most important game of the year,” then I suspect the season will already be relatively successful.

Yes, and you better not be able to talk when you get home... Lol. :D;)

Every single game is important but the first one is the most important, IMHO.

Tend to agree, it's scUM, if only that it's an in-state rival we compete against in recruiting. It sets the course for rest of season; a win would give staff credibility, and inspire the team to believe in the program; and if we cannot beat miami, we likely are 50/50 vs the the other first half of season games.

scUM and fsu would be two major wins.

I listened to a podcast where they matched up the position groups of UF & Miami. They ranked Cam Ward as having way more upside than Mertz. I haven't seen Ward play, but the crowd noise at the Swamp will likely rattle him. Washington State's stadium is 68,000.
They rated UM'S rb's, qr, OL better than UF. The Secondary was the only, alleged, weakness of UM.

Don't think the crowd noise will matter with this guy.
Miami landed what many consider the biggest prize of this year's QB transfer market.
Ward had 6,966 passing yards and 48 touchdowns in two seasons at Washington State.
He brings 13,874 career passing yards and 119 touchdown passes to Miami, and should
fit in perfectly with coordinator Shannon Dawson's version of the Air Raid.

In 2024, the most intriguing college football game will be

    Florida at Texas!

Florida Gators Football History vs University of Texas
Winsipedia - Florida Gators vs. Texas Longhorns football series history

Florida has not played the Texas Longhorns since 1940 in Gainesville, FL - a 0-26 shutout loss.

In the previous year, Florida was again shutout 0-12 in Athens, Texas.

The first game between these teams occurred in 1924, a 7-7 tie in Athens, Texas.

In 2024, the 100th year anniversary of their first meeting, Florida & Texas will renew this series.

Florida trails Texas in the series: 0-2-1.

In three contests, Florida has only scored 7 points against Texas!

I think that it may likely be an uphill battle for Florida in getting their first win over Texas in football.

If we win a bunch of games going into the Texas game, it’ll be huge. If we are fighting for 500, not so much.

We should beat UM, and I expect we will, but we need to beat Kentucky. Hard to believe, but as the kids say, here we are.

Georgia they are the one we have to beat to win the East and letting people and our players know we are back.
Now beating Georgia and losing to Kentucky won't be good, but Georgia is top dog

Bad timing for us as Texas is peaking while we have been a mess for a while. Different timing and we would have hung half a hundred on them.

I'll be at that Miami game. Given the history we have with them and the revulsion they have for us, that may be the fanbase we get along with the very least. That game happens so rarely now that I couldn't pass it up. Really want to beat them.

It's a rivalry and a statement game! UM will be fired up, and we better be!!! They will be ranked and the Gators will not. Because the game is in the Swamp, crowd noise will be in our favor! Hopefully, the Gators will operate on all cylinders and we get the W. But, GN will be the only ones who will think we have a chance.

A solid win over Miami would likely feel like the end of a tough beginning. A bad loss could feel much like the beginning of the end. We must beat Miami at all costs.

Our first 3 games are all at home! Wk 4 is in Starkville, Miss.
With the exodus of players (and coaches!) to TAMU, I'm going with week 3. Hoping that UM is a W!

Miami first of all, because, well... it's Miami and it's the first game of the season out of the blocks to set the tone. Then, Texas because they're new and rich and they may even become the new standard in the SEC soon if we as a (conference) sleep on them. And, to a lesser extent, Ole Miss intrigues me because I'd love to shut the Kiffin talk down right now.

And, Doc, thanks for starting all of these fresh positive threads that keep the focus on football.
