Yikes, Illinois has flat-lined! The Illini has scored only two points in the 2nd half. "By golly, I think she's dead Jim!"
Illinois finally woke up from the dead to make it a close ball game, 52-77. The Illini only lost by 25 points to UConn! Jeesh!
Congrats to Alabama to make their first ever Final Four! Looking forward to their game with the Huskies!
Path huh? I'm looking at my bracket and I see #1 seed UNC losing to Bama. We couldn't even beat a play-in team (tho that had to do with no Micah).
You know what happened the last time Bama was in the Elite Eight? They lost to Providence who had a guard named Billy Donovan and a coach named Rick Pitino. They had some great teams coached by Wimp Sanderson. Good on them for finally getting to the FF.
We were just a really bad match up for Bama. They are a really good team but we were their kryptonite.
Disagree with this, our path was tougher than Bama's. They played 2 top 25 KenPom teams this tournament, we would've played 3 top 25 KenPom teams if we would've made it this far.
Have to have guys that can be at them off the bounce. It's why they allowed almost 100 ppg vs UK and UF. They couldn't guard us or them, of even Tennessee. Fortunately for them, they haven't faced a team with multiple guys who can beat them this way until their next game.
Yup. We did the same thing in the SEC tournament. And probably would have been one of the top 5 hottest teams in the tourney if it wasn't for Micah. That was a double douse of water. Hurt depth and forced us to reconfigure our lineup right before the NCAAs and just gut punched the players. The team on the court after the Micah injury was a completely different team energy wise vs Auburn than the team that got 3 SEC tourney wins.
A lot us have said over the last couple of months that the Gators were good enough to make the Final Four and bad enough to lose in the first round. Our offense could be scary good but our defense was always iffy.
