Our offense has similar concepts to both of the teams playing in the Super Bowl today.

Did we add the 22... 00... 10 offensive personnel sets pieces to that offense? If so, then It's a start.

Yep. People don’t realize AR and Mertz were equivalent. They did it in diffeeent ways but the results were the same level of productivity. Given the OL was a bit worse overall offensive production fell.

both years the offense was mediocre. It just looks ok given the defense was horrific

If having popular concepts made one a good offensive coach then everyone would be a good offensive coach.

Watch our offense take a big step this year and be willing to eat your words. I’ll bookmark this and will remind you.

I never said our offense was bad. We’ve been borderline T25 in efficiency both Napier years. The problem isn’t the scheme it’s the lack of knowledge of when to call what, when to be aggressive, and the general neglect of the rest of the team.

The 2024 story will be written by the defense. Can we go from awful to solid?

  7. I agree that Napier is willing to make changes, but not necessarily timely changes in the middle of a season or even in the middle of a game. I am fine with his coaching hires, coaching fires, and silly duty titles this past offseason.

The offensive line that Napier built before the season looked great. He brought in three highly rated offensive linemen from the portal and they were getting great reviews in spring camp. The departure of Kentucky transfer Kiyaunte Goodwin in the summer threw a monkey wrench in the situation with more rippling effects due to injuries. I give Napier a bye on the OL with two OL coaches because he could not recruit a replacement for Goodwin and he had limited options shifting players around. However, this year he needs to prove, with or without injuries, that the two-coach experiment is worth the cost.

Napier tried to bring in an OC, but he could not lure his top candidates away from their jobs for whatever reason. The next best option is to retain those duties, but he did hint that Russ Callaway might have more input with play calls. I think Napier can script plays very well, but he certainly needs help with in-game adjustments.

The defense was worse than the offense. That’s why people say the offense wasn’t the problem.
