I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but I wonder if we would have been piping in all this music in the 60's and 70's would George Edmondson been able to keep the 2 Bits cheer going? I get that George was as proud a gator fan than anyone but that kind of noise distraction would have prevented the fans from focusing on George from a distance as he rotated around the stadium. A whistle can only go so far against that wave of sound.

I used to do that every year. Matter of fact the only game I saw live in 2020 was in Knoxville. I ordered Utah tickets and was going to go out to Salt Lake City to see the game, but I guess 35 years of buying season tickets didn't quite rate.

I let mine go 2 years ago. Ticket prices and booster fees were always going up. Had many years of great tines going to games. My daughter is grown and out of the house. I really miss going to those games with that little girl.

Like someone else said, we now attend other sports more - particularly softball, baseball, and gymnastics.

I still miss the atmosphere of being at the games, but I don't miss stroking that check, traffic, losing an entire day, etc.

I hope the next generation keeps The Swamp magic alive.

Of course not, it's basically just buying your rings from the store with extra steps. Welcome to casual fanhood, I joined this category last year as well. I've never voluntarily watched an NFL game (only passively when others have a game on) as I never really understood the appeal of watching a group of men I have no connection with doing their job, and with every season CFB is closing in on that model.

What has made every pregame enjoyable to me is the intensity due to the importance of the game, tailgating and pageantry. You can’t replace that with fan fest type of things

With the stadium update, some of y'all will have to give your seats up like it or not.

I have had season tickets since 1980 and maybe missed 4 games in that time period. Will admit it is getting tougher to renew. I do support CBN and Scott Strickland. But the game I love is being killed with greed and selfishness. The times are a changing and not for the better. God help us!

Gave mine up about 5 years ago and don’t miss it.

While it’s not quite there yet, college football is about dead to me.

The greed has been there all along, it’s just that the players are much more involved now and the portal is worst of all.

Sometimes I forget how old the demographic on this forum is, then I read threads like this. You've done well soldiers, if your hearts not in it anymore, then no shame in hanging 'em up.

I have had mine since 1980 and don't go anymore much. Let the kids use them. Not sure I will continue much longer though.

This is an important point: will there be enough new demand to match the supply as more and more folks age-out? At one time, I could not have imagined that demand would ever dwindle below supply. Now it seems not only a possibility, but maybe a probability.

No, for many of the reasons stated above. Don’t get me wrong, I love my school, proud graduate, but NIL and the portal has destroyed the game I love. It’s turned. Team sport into a me sport with no allegiance.

Nope, Purdue grad 06. Didn't want to go too far from home (Chicago area).

We're still in, but, as unhappy with the trend of college football as most fans. I can hardly stand the thought of ever giving up our season tickets, but, we're truly evaluating every year before we buy now. One thing is for sure, we will never attend another neutral-site game or non-playoff bowl game again. Those are out forever for us.

I find underhanded comments about people because of their age as offensive as that of other immutable characteristics, such as race and sex, but that’s just me.

I do my best to address facts and feelings, rather than the person…

    …unless they’re a ‘Nole or Dawg. <shudder> :D

Purdue is a great engineering school — I know several solid folks who went there. That said, you’re in no position to be calling us “good soldiers” like you have any clue what a roller coaster ride it’s been for us Gators over the past at least 35 years (and more for many of us). Unparalleled highs and some crushing lows — that you’ve never come close to experiencing.

You and I bang heads here more often than not, but I enjoy your contributions. Your youth here however, is not an asset, so stop acting like you have some kind of wisdom to impart to us here about Florida Gator football. You don’t, and never will.

A man has to know his limitations

Being a Purdue grad he probably knows all about crushing lows, but nothing about unparalleled highs. :D
