Get the court ruling telling them they must stop. If they continue to refuse, they're the bad guys who are ignoring the courts. You federalize the Texas National Guard. You tell them to choose between court martial/the brig and following federal law. Guarantee they'll abandon Abbott.
It would be pretty radical for a state governor to refuse to follow federal law and try to provoke a constitutional crisis, as Abbott is doing. But it's happened before. Thankfully, Eisenhower, JFK, and LBJ didn't screw around. Why Eisenhower Sent the 101st Airborne to Little Rock After Brown v. Board | HISTORY Kennedy federalized National Guard to integrate Alabama public schools (Sept. 10, 1963) LBJ Sends Federal Troops to Alabama It's not the first time we've had a racist moron serving as a governor in the South. P.S. If Trump federalized a national guard to stop a racist governor from denying migrants their asylum rights, I would applaud him. But there's zero chance that would ever happen.
I almost feel like this is an outcome many on the right are hoping for. Maybe I’m wrong. Idk. I’ve lost the thread on this one.
Apparently there are 25 GOP governors who are in cahoots with President Trump, as they all made it a point to go on record publicly in support of Abbott’s move. Those who are counting on a splintered GOP to hurt Trump’s chances need to take notice.
I'm sorry, but what exactly are they "making up"? From the AP: MSN That's a huge spike on top of an already record high number. Is the Donald colluding with the AP now? What is being made up?
If Texas was actually in violation of the law, it would have been stopped by now. You are clearly not familiar with how our federal government operates. Or you're in denial of the obvious truth that Biden has no power here to order Texas to not enforce the law. Meanwhile, immigration has managed to find its way to the most important issue in the upcoming election and Biden has about 30% approval from the American public on his handling of said issue. An ABC News poll recently had his approval rating on the issue at 18%. If Biden was to actually federalize the national guard in Texas in effort to stop their enforcement of the border, they might as well just concede the election to Trump today.
Biden doesn't need a bill to allow Texas to enforce the law. The law already says Texas is doing it the right way. Just like he didn't need Congress to undo all of the Trump border policies that were in place when he came into office. You're just going to have to come to grips with ya boy backed himself into a corner on this issue. Well, more accurately, the people telling Biden what to do and signing his name on the pertinent documents backed him into a corner.
there is a broader issue here that seems to be whooshing right over your little ole radicalized head. But your continued sanctimony is noted. Also care to comment on the Republican Party torpedoing their own bill to fix immigration just so they can politicize the southern border? Or are you just gonna breeze right on past that…
LOL, I say that's a fantastic idea 8 months out from re-election...the horrible optics will be off the charts.
Only thing I agree with here is Biden did back himself into a corner. So now his only options are bad options. Which is why a show of force is probably necessary.
I agree optics look bad to me. But I’m continually surprised by what people view as presidential. Could be a lot of people out there happy to watch abbot be told to sit down and stfu. Who knows.
Sounds like even the border patrol isn't on board with screwing with Texas, don't know what his options would be short of sending troops in.
