I think its institutional personally. I think there's an entire segment of this university that finds this all very unpalatable and would probably just prefer to be Stanford East. I can't say I totally disagree with them on some level. But, things are changing on a daily basis, so who knows. If Michigan can do it, surely we can. Just not sure if we have the collective will.

I don’t think it would hurt for both parties to have a fresh start. I give him credit for his fundraising ability, but I don’t thing he should handle anymore hires. Like it was said above I don’t think it’s all SS.

SS is a very good AD for a mid-tier SEC school and thats exactly what he has created at UF! A few posts ago, I said we were evenly matched with UM for the season opener but Gators probably favored because we have a more experienced QB starting and home field advantage. Welp...that went all out the window with the portal QB transfer UM is getting. UM NIL deal for the QB is 1.5 million! The kid decided not to go the NFL for an NIL deal. Wow!

A very interesting article that backs up his words with enough facts about his hires and makes you wonder where this program is heading. We are living in it and watching the inevitable unless something changes. We certainly are not improving, only being told it's part of the process or give the analytics a chance. Otherwise our only success comes from coaches that have been here at least 10 years or more. We are only playing a shell game or only watch the left hand but ignore what the right hand is actually doing. I know if I was living on the shoreline, the edge, and a large hurricane was coming, I'd want to get out.

Hey don't forget Gator fans, baseball starts back up one week from to day.

I stopped following this guy, he’s very negative, and should really consider changing the name. He probably bitched about Foley not investing in football infrastructure too.

While most of that article was just slightly over the top with hyperbole, he makes a good point about allocating money towards an unpopular stadium renovation at the detriment of NIL funding. I think I’d rather get some players than lose 10,000 Swamp seats.

Scott gets by partly because he’s a really nice guy who is pleasant and very well liked, see Billy also. UF is already Stanford East, and everyone in leadership at UF is thrilled with that.

Scott’s picker is off though. He clearly has a mold he looks for when making coaching hires. They typically aren’t dripping with accomplishments and experience, more like youth and perceived potential.

“It would be one thing if Florida’s football and men’s basketball team– or for that matter, any coach he hired at Florida– were winning. That’s a pretense Scott Stricklin attempts to sell in his official UF bio, that he’s helping the Gators win. It should strike any reader of his bio, however, that of all the championships that “have been added to the mantle during his tenure,” not a single one was added by a coach that Stricklin himself hired. All eleven national titles won by the Florida Gators in various sports since Stricklin’s arrival have been won by coaches hired by Jeremy Foley*.

“As for the coaches that Stricklin actually hired?”

Kind of ironic that the article ripping the current AD is on "In all kinds of weather"...

There are a few beat writers who seem, with half of society, to have had some breaks in their psyche.

Now does that mean they are wrong, no. Over the top, yes.

Which I suppose I could understand if we were paying them 3 or 4 million instead of 7 or 8. When you get up to 8-10 mill, you should be getting winning seasons if not 10 win seasons.

What facts? Such as Alabama's AD showing up the other week with a jersey touting their collective, to which this clown writer attributes their great recruiting? Uhhh... Alabama was recruiting lights out 15 years ago, before NIL existed, but never mind that small detail. And let's see how well they do now that Saban is gone. They have no post Saban recruiting class yet for us to compare.

    No facts here, all opinion.

Everyone in the serious UF Football family-you know- the people that contributed money for years, before NIL existed, wanted serious facility upgrades, including the stadium. Foley was relentlessly roasted on this board for years for not spending the $$ to upgrade our facilities--too "cheap" everyone said!!! They blamed our downturn in football on Foley and to bad facilities--we hadn't competed in the "arms race" everyone whined, complained, and bellyached. Foley needs to go!!!

Now that we do it, it's more whining, complaining because we are actually doing it. Anyone that thinks that our stadium doesn't need renovating is blind.

NIL, as it exists now, is dead in the water. Book it. No economic system like that can exist outside of Russia, which is not run by a government, but the world's largest organized crime syndicate. It is hopelessly flawed. It will be changed soon enough.

It just odd to me that the highest paid people associated with the university are the sports team coaches, maybe the president and then some high schol kids that will most likely never graduate.

Upgrading the stadium to better accommodate high level wealthy boosters while reducing the capacity and experience for us plebs is NOT the facility upgrades people wanted.

Facts you say? Maybe you failed to read the entire article when it listed all the coaches that won championships since SS took over compared to the year hired. Zippo to SS credit. I don't give a rip about Bamas AD or Cornhiser for that matter. Or we can look the winning percentage of coaches that have been hired. Wake up to reality. For the record I liked JF and wished he put more focus on upgrades. This is an area that SS is miles ahead of JF. But building improvements without winning is also a losing attribute to expect success.
