I know you specifically aren't defending Mullen, but I can't say the same for the others who are constantly bringing that up.

You can't be so dense that you can't understand how arguing recruiting rankings are to be taken with a grain of salt, to then turn around and use the ranking of 2 recruits to support your position that BN is a better recruiter is just plain stupid. Then to top it off, when asked for supporting evidence of why BN recruiting is better not using ratings/rankings the only response is others are blinded by rankings and you double down with "-Napier, despite a worse record, is bringing in higher rated players than Mullen ever could. FACT." If I cut your posts in half, I could create a very convincing argument taking place between 2 different people.

Not sure who you are trying to convince about Mullen, I said his recruiting sucked. I also said BN recruiting can't be judged until we see the production on the field, so I don't care about the rankings, that includes the 2 you singled out who have yet to take a snap.

Finally, you decry others using "data" yet haven't provided a single counter argument that doesn't include using the same "data" sources, recruiting rankings/ratings. I'll even help you out a little bit. BN has had 6 Freshman all SEC position players in his first 2 years, that leads the SEC, unfortunately one has transferred to UGA.

I've already addressed your first two paragraphs, so if you still aren't following, I really don't care. But I will address this one.

We were the youngest team in the conference last year, with a lot of returning players that could and should take a leap this year. If you look at our average player rating and blue chip ratio once we have the roster finalized this summer, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the highest in several years. So, to answer the question being asked in the original topic..."what needs to happen?"

We need a coaching staff who will maximize the potential of our players and put them in a position to succeed. Simple as that. Hopefully, Napier and his retooled staff of assistants will come through.

Only problem with freshman All-SEC is it’s driven by opportunity. If someone starts as a freshman they have a great chance at being freshman All-SEC. The key question is can they become all SEC or at least top 5 at their position.

As with most things in life, there are many ways to skin this cat. For simplicity lets look at the 4 playoff teams.

Alabama: HS recruiting juggernaut, minimal transfers
Michigan: Solid HS recruiting, not a lot of transfers either, think the key here was veteran team, lots of experience.
Washington: Easily lowest HS recruiting, KEY additions from portal that lead the team, also veteran.
Texas: 2nd Best HS recruiting, key additions from portal but not to the extent of UW, generally a younger team and expect them to be in the hunt again next year.

The most sustainable are Bama and UT. The UM and UW route have to time things up for a run and/or have great coaching/chemistry. I think most would agree that UF is likely not going to be able to go the Bama route. I think practically speaking, we should target the Michigan path. I'll get a full serving of bacon for this, but whatever, Harbaugh is a better coach. He has been to the super bowl and now won a natty, I don't think it's even that close.

It's pretty simple. Take away the kids from Mullen's classes who weren't there by the following fall, and his rankings would have been lower than Napier. This really isn't hard to understand.

Now, if Lagway transfers after the spring game and McCray doesn't qualify and can't enroll, then sure, you can throw my argument out the window.

Again, who is this directed at? Just 2 posts back I said: "Not sure who you are trying to convince about Mullen, I said his recruiting sucked. I also said BN recruiting can't be judged until we see the production on the field, so I don't care about the rankings"

You seem incapable of taking in and retaining new information.

Selective reading isn't a good practice.

Directed at the person who I first responded to, dugger dad, who said Napier is recruiting exactly like Mullen. Directed at all the other morons who echoed these same statements over the past few months, using their class rankings (without context) to justify their opinions. Directed at anyone throwing bacon at me in this thread because they are still a closet Mullen fan. How many times do I have to repeat myself before it sinks in?

    LOL, how ironic.

You have to look at the entire roster that includes HS, transfers in and transfers out.

The overall talent and experience of the entirety of the team is what matters.

2024 roster is pretty known at this point. Is it talented vs our peers? No. Is it experienced vs our peers? Not really. Hence why we are projected to go .500 with nearly zero NFL picks or All SEC performers.

When do you think all this awesome talent acquisition will begin to show on the field and to NFL scouts? There are many, many coaches that have achieved team and individual player success within 2 to 3 years.

2024 talent is highly comparable to the talent on Mullens 2021 team. It just is. Neither are good, given the poor and the projected poor record.

You are hanging your hat on two highly ranked recruits in a span 3 recruiting classes. We are all rooting that they dominate, but more than likely 1…if not both…will bust. Those are the odds. Take a look at recent history of 5 star QBs. And more importantly it is 2 in 3 years…not even 1 per year! And it is an objective fact we’ve been a net loser in the portal, especially since the UL transfers were one offs.

That's another thing, Harbaugh had a rough first few years in Ann Arbor. But he made huge staff changes and boy did he turn things around. Me personally I'd much rather have great recruiting classes and cherry pick the portal.

His first two years were 10-3

Each with 2 conference losses, a Citrus Bowl and Orange Bowl

If that is a couple rough years then what are we having?

We’d give a kidney to win 20 games in 2 years.

Businesses that don’t win, but have a good environment? I would call them bankrupt….

Winning is the only “analytic” that matters.

I 1000% agree that Michigan if the path for Florida via Napier. Their academics, veteran level team, motion heavy offense… so many comps. Harbaugh staffs call that offense to perfection. It really gives them an edge when they may not have a talent edge in the same way a 5-wide air raid offense would mask talent issues… but the only way to do it is to have a GREAT not good OL (we don’t) and to keep talent around (we haven’t) play great d (we do not but we may ) and call a game that keeps defenses guessing (happens sometimes here but not consistently(
