College football's Way-Too-Early Top 25 for 2024: Reloaded Georgia back on top UM and UF will be unranked to kick things off. Id give UF the current edge because of QB stability and its a home game.
So we play 6 of the top 16 in this poll. 3 in the top 7. With 4 not in the Swamp. Also our last 5 games are against 5 of these 6 teams.
Including #1 at a neutral site and #2 away from home… At least we have some opportunities to make a splash but what a BRUTAL schedule.
Whew that is a tough schedule. If I were the admin I’d extend Napier an additional year and essentially give the coaches a do-over in case it doesn’t add up to a lot of wins. I do however have some faith that the youth this year, not being so young next, will show dramatic improvement. Also very happy Mertz is sticking around an extra year to give Lagway some time to pick up sticks.
Even with a veteran, complete and loaded team that slate would be a challenge. That said, to be the best you gotta play the best. All the pressure is on those highly ranked teams as no one is expecting much from the boys in orange and blue. Let it all hang out, try to snag some wins that no one is expecting and go from there.
College Football Playoff bracket, predictions: Early picks as format expands to 12 teams in 2024 season
Gonna be bold and say we finish next season better than Vandy does. But it might be close. Been saying it for a while now - next season is going to be about finding the silver linings.
Maybe not, this staff has lost to Vanderbilt and lowly Arkansas who won all of one SEC game this season.
I’m always optimistic, but in the end a realist. It is very likely we have another losing season next year just due to the sos. But unlike some of the other fans channeling Violet Beauregarde, regardless of the 2024 record, I would still give CBN 2025 to get his four years especially with Lagway taking the reins. Would love to be wrong on the former, but not the latter.
