    Kind of elitist there Kirk.

He uses the NIT as an example and yet there are teams that are thrilled to get into that tournament and keep playing.

A MAC team has no prayer at a the playoff but they are still going to be happy to get into the Weedwacker bowl.

This reminds. Me of the kirk Herbstreit tantrum of I believe it was 2006 or maybe 2008 he kept pushing for an Ohio State vs Michigan Championsp Game ! And he got absolutely furious about it! So,, of course he doesn’t like the Gators one bit! Rarely ever picks the Gators to win a game! I wish ABC / ESPN would get rid of Herbstreit!

Yeah, but in the end that made it even sweeter didn't it? That's my favorite NC year for so many reasons. The beginning of the SEC's run of dominance and we kicked it off.

Definitely elitist. If you do not care about the players then think of all the people that work long hours so that their community can have a bowl game.

I personally like to see teams that have little chance of making the CFP play one special game at the end of the year to cap off their season.

Bowls treat them like kings! Everyone should have a chance to feel that way.

I was on the fence, but watching the Rutgers fans celebrate turned me. I saw value where I didn't before and remembered good times at lesser bowl games in the past.

This is what it will come down to. If cities can still fill hotel rooms, I think the bowls survive. TV should always be fine in an era when the networks are so starved for content they broadcast cornhole tournaments and pickleball.

Bowl games are for revenue and tax dollars. They're about bringing attention to their city.

Agree that was the original reason....supporting tourism. With bowl games with half empty seats (and a significant portion of the full section being locals) it just doesn't make much sense anymore from any other aspect other than TV money.

We will see what happens in the future. How it evolves.

  14. I half expect the bowl committees to send hit men after Kirk for trying to take away their billion dollars of revenue.

I do not have a problem with all the bowl games, I have a problem with 1 all the opt outs and 2 so many going in the portal prior to the game

I think we are headed to a basketball tournament type of situation. A field of 64. Bowl games if they exist will be preseason affairs.
