I'm down with 19 tackles with no missed tackles. I can endorse that percentage.

Yep, we aren’t real used to that. Pup is a solid run stopper that is pretty instinctual. He’ll fill gaps closing down running lanes. He and Shemar would be a nice duo.

Chiz is a Gator but does he want to be an LB coach after being a HC and DC? Would we give him co-DC? Now maybe his contact for bought out at NC and if he takes the same level position he doesn't get paid the buyout. Maybe then he would come here for just LB.

Guess the same could be said about DJ Durkin also (coached here but didn't play here like chiz ) if he could get past the kids death and the culture allegations, which I don't think he can.

Chizik would likely be helpful for overall program analysis and input because of his HC experience. We really could have benefitted from Pasqualoni had he not left.

I keep on reading that we are looking for an inside LB coach, but don't we already have Armstrong penciled in for that role? I know he was coaching Safeties last season but that's not his natural coaching position. Seems to me that if he was hired to be Bama LB coach before he took UF DC job he should work well as our LB coach. Wouldn't that allow Harris to coach entire secondary or hiring of a Safety specialist or a Special Teams coach? On the other hand, is it possible that we will hire a LB coach and then have Armstrong focus on ST? Seems to me that when we've had either our HC (Meyer) or DC (Zook) take over ST, we've been awfully good at it.

That's a very surprising list to me. Two guys who were much higher on the food chain than a position coach, Partridge was fired, and if it was Jamar there would be no reason to wait this long if he was the guy. I don't understand why Armstrong isn't the natural choice here. He is a lb coach, not a safety coach, and it would free up a spot. But I guess if Napier was going that route it would have been named by now. Maybe it is an NFL guy.

Maybe it’s my ignorance on the subject of coaching but why so many position coaches? I feel like safety’s are supposed to be in sync with the CBs, so in my head I’d want the same guy coaching both positions. Same with LB and DL, they are working together to stop the run/get to the QB. I picture with so many hands in the pot, “the DL coach could be teaching them to do one thing, and the LB coach is teaching the LBs something that doesn’t match what the DL is doing.

Or am I way off on how organized these things are?

You are right, they need to be in sync....that's the job of the coordinator and staff meetings.
But the various position coaches are important. In practice you want the personal attention a postion coach can give to a smaller group of players. That's where the fine tuning occurs and if there are too many bodies for one coach then you don't get the detail. Also on gameday you want quality coaching on the sideline and up in the box....some position coaches will be upstairs so you need adequate coverage on the sideline to coach guys up. Obviously there is some flexibility in how each staff gets set up....and TBH I'm not nuts about 2 OL coaches AND a TE coach (although UF often using 2 TE does mitigate that somewhat). I'll feel better about that IF Calloway gets the reins turned over to him as a true Offensive Coordinator, which is what I woud like to see happen. If Napier goes outside for an OC then either one of the OL coaches has to go or the new guy has to replace Gonzales as wr coach

Probably Bostic and Anzalone? So 3 coaches ago? With Keanu Neal and Marcus Maye in the back jesus that defense was nasty

If, and that's a big if, we can get the coaching our defense should improve even more than the addition of the individual portal players would indicate.

An improved DL will allow our LBs to scrape and fill. An improved front 7 will put less pressure on our DBs which might lead to some ints.... Not saying anything earth shattering, but we haven't seen the whole unit working together in awhile.

If we can have some of the incoming Freshman add some snaps and spark it could be exciting!

And add more emphasis on STRENGTH and conditioning and I might just enjoy watching our D again.
