I trust Billy Napier way more than you when it comes to assessing the caliber of these starters. You consistently assume the worst-case scenario, no matter what it is
if ETN wanted to have 20 carries a game, he went to the wrong place more than likely. It looks like he just wanted a trophy. he probably played on the best pop Warner team and went to the best high school and just is not used to having adversity in his life. He’s not built like that.
When you have a mama and a brother stirring up shit, that’s what will hurt your draft stock. No organization wants to listen to that shit.
we have players that have been here a couple of years and are ready to see the field also. They will be starting in those spots. If they are going into year three and not playing, maybe they are the ones in the portal. I would rather have the two edge rusher from last year’s class than Princsley for one more year.
That's certainly true. Only the staff and players know the story. I'm not trying to "prove" anything. Or "blame" CBN (@Skink). Bringing up a concern about the number of starters for next year that have transfered is a reasonable point. It isn't whining, complaining, being a victim or anything other than just that. Dude, it is rough trying to have meaningful discussion with you guys. The paid boards have much better discourse than this.
I don't think there is "evidence" to support either theory. But the obvious - that these were quality players for us and we need quality players - has been stated ad nauseum.
You seem to always assume the worst. Over time a “discussion” from that perspective ceases to be “meaningful”
This whole conversation is just going to have you going in circles. What’s the point? Nobody here knows what happened with each individual player. Speculating in circles isn’t going to bring us any closer together. Talking about losing “starters” that immediately hung up their cleats is a waste of freaking time, yet you continue to do it, because it fits whatever narrative it is that you’re trying to feed. Say they all left on their own accord because they hate billy and his entire staff, and all the fans, and the admin. Is that cause for concern? You just want acknowledgement that you have a right to be concerned? What are you going to do with your now acknowledged concern? Continue to voice your concern? You’re going to do that anyway. What is it going to accomplish? If you like the paid side better, go to the pay side. Why are you here, mucking it up with us?
It is a fair question (your last one). I think the answer is that I continue answering posts and making the same points because I do not feel "heard", and that is frustrating me. I assume if I state the same thing, slightly differently, maybe it will be clear. But that doesn't help. Instead, it looks like I'm making a big deal out of something that isn't. I agree. It ISN'T a big deal. None of this is. It's all entertainment, which is fun, but not important. But what is a big deal, though,is that, on a DISCUSSION BOARD, there is so little room for differing opinions and personalities. I don't label you, freedom, Skink, Gonzo, et al as "sunshine pumpers" and therefore disregard whatever points you make. But the opposite is, unfortunately, not the case. Once someone is considered a "negative nellie", every post is viewed through that lens and most responses are ad hominen attacks (Donzo is putting on a clinic for it). So the more "critical" (not the same as negative) posters aren't really engaged. They are called names, and their questions/concerns aren't considered. It is a very frustrating experience. But, yes, this experience at the end of the year makes it easier for me to stay away from this site. It used to be a fun place to get inside scoops and share joys and commiserate the lows with other Gators since I live in Texas and know zero Gator fans here.
I don’t think I ever called you any names. I don’t engage with a lot of posts you make, because there’s nothing to talk about, and we’d just go in circles, like you’ve been doing with several others for days now. I’m not gonna see things through your lens, and you aren’t going to see them through mine. Most of the things that “concern” you are things neither of us have any real insight into, and neither of us can change. I move on quickly from players that leave us for any reason. You prefer to dwell on them for years, even if they’re no longer playing football. I can’t change any of it, so I just try to support what we have, and if there’s a positive angle to take, I’ll try to take it. I don’t like any of our players leaving, tbh, but it’s part of the game now. Trying to break down why each individual player left isn’t going to bring them back or change anything, so I don’t invest any energy into it. I move forward with what they’re replaced with and support them moving forward. Whoever left is dead to me.
I have no idea what that is referring to. White? I don't know that I've ever commented on him. Dwelling on it for YEARS...come on man. I'm glad you aren't name calling, but straw man arguments are just as bad. But, yes, I think your posture is a good one. Be happy for who we have and forget about those who leave.
The "critical" posters do get engaged. In short order it often becomes clear that the poster thinks our staff is trash and every post is just them piling on more confirmation bias. Not even our staff and some guy had decided Brennan Marion was bad and kept making the worst inaccurate arguments to prove it. It was refuted, and eventually got to the "why bother" stage. In your case, you make some unfounded negative assertion and act like it's somebody else's job to disprove it. When people don't bother doing so you act like "your points" aren't being addressed, when in fact no points were ever made in the first place. "Waaah guys are transferring" Guys are transferring everywhere. "Yeah but soooooo many waaah" Not really, look around at other teams. "But how many starters from other teams I haven't bothered to look into it at all I just wanna waaaaah" Oh shut up already. "Waaaah not being engaged with"
This will be fine as long as a play caller is hired. Napier should be coaching ST, but he needs less on his plate in order to do so.
Have we lost any players that we will actually miss? Etienne is a good player, but we are extremely talented and deep at RB. Princely is an underachiever, and we have highly rated guys waiting for their chance behind him. Hill might hurt us, but finding someone of his caliber shouldn't be tough to find in the portal. We aren't losing Fred Taylor, Jevon Kearse, and Lito Sheppard. Let's try and keep things in perspective here.
