I’m ok with 2 OL, 2 DL and a special teams bad ass. It is a line of scrimmage league after all. Divvy up the other 5 to whoever.

If he hires an outside OC, he needs to leave him alone and let him call plays without interference.

 

The HC gets to interfere, that's why they call him HC. No. I would like to see how many games could be won if the Oline could consistently not move before the snap, and then block after the snap. Of course if the re-tooled defense could hold opponents to below about 28 pts/game and the offense repeated 29.6 from last year (games when Mertz played),that would help too.

 

He sure can. He can hire a guy and micromanage him, that will go well. What he should do is hire someone he trusts and support him. If he wants to interfere he should get punched in the face just like he did Dabo.

No doubt but I do doubt he does that. Which is why I don't expect much change in the O even if we hire one.

 

BN hired TWO OL coaches and we still suck. Those problems are squarely on BN. And don't give me the tiresome excuse that we don't have the players. That's a total BS excuse. Plenty of schools with way less talent that have better OL's. See Ga. Tech for one of many examples.

 

I don’t understand these comments. The HC is responsible for success at the end of the day. How can he just leave the OC alone? What he can do is let the OC and him align philosophically and build the trust. That’s how it works

 

The issue is recruiting- Mullen destroyed the OL room and Napier was forced to rebuild it every year. Do you see Uga or bama rebuilding every year?

 

Just speculative negativity added onto a hypothetical scenario. If I had wings, I probably wouldn’t be able to fly real good…and if I did, I’d probably hit a side of a barn and die.

Like Partridge hire where we never even interviewed. Why leave a DL/DC job in Pitt? You don’t take a lesser job to only coach part of DL at UF where everyone is staying Billy will be fired after another losing year and will lose the last 5 games again next year.

 

You're right, coaches can just make any random player amazing. That's why the top teams are spending so much in recruiting...
