Some Gems from My Guy Coach Billy Napier

Thankfully, you didn't miss any drama.

 

We managed to send many of our 4-stars to other schools. The day was a huge disappointment with many top commits losing their confidence in this staff and bolting.

 

I have no idea how Lincoln Riley isn’t getting crushed by the media right now. They returned the Heisman trophy winner and loaded up on transfers. They are expected to win the conference and compete for the playoff. None of that happens and they now look like they might be behind Oregon and Washington. To top that they have had a ton of attrition with the 20th class in the country. In what world are they not a bigger disappointment than UF?

 

Unfortunately the guys we want to compete with are pulling in #1 #2 classes, so we are middle of the pack in the sec currently. We have spots available so hopefully we move up.

We didn’t send anyone to anywhere. They bailed. We were able to keep the biggest Gator in our pond, along with 3-4 other key guys that could be game changers. But we appreciate your contribution to this board… with your 7th post in the last 8 years. Probably as awesome as your first 6.

 

You really need to look at the average ranking of our recruits. We are top 6. We are 16th because we signed fewer players than most

 

Well considering about a month ago it was a top 3 class, and many here were crowing about how great Napier was doing, it’s went down pretty bad. Is that on Napier also when guys who were long time UF commits flip enmasse?
Couple that with some key starters to the portal it’s not great, not sure how anyone can really spin it.
That’s what 5-7 gets ya guess.

 

I’ve been critical of the naysayers this season, as we needed to give Napier a chance to get his guys in, but given the collapse of the overall recruiting class and the absolutely brutal schedule next year I’m pretty pessimistic at this point. We have a few gems in this bunch but overall this is a Dan Mullen level class.

 

If you took the top 18 of many of those other classes their average rating would be higher. It isn’t like they got worse as a program due to adding more depth.

 

Any idea about how many recruits bailed? I recall seeing us ranked about #6 a while back.

 

We were as high as 2 or 3 not that long ago. I think 10 bailed.

 

Lagway may be a transcendent player like Tebow was to our program McCray has leadership and talent skills far beyond anyone else we've had on D in recent years. To judge this class on numbers that some pencil pusher on another website put down is really short changing the significance of the players we've signed.

 

I hope you are right. But we were pretty average with AR. I can’t see how we have a winning record next year and getting more recruits to a team with 3 losing years in a row and lots of fans calling for the coaches head is damn near impossible.
