I’m thinking you do see the two quotes are not mutually exclusive…that they’re actually consistent.

The first was off the cuff bravado that has been overused since, both to glorify and villify. Sometimes gambles are warranted and pay off. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a few more on the field but in the long run you may win a few more, but you may likely lose a few more.

As for the 2nd quote, I agree in principle. I hope the system stabilizes instead of escalating.
