Sarah Franklin, #13 for Wisconsin, is the Big 10 player of the year. Texas doesn't care. They are serving at her, and hitting at her when she's in the back row, and just abusing her in general. Wisky hasn't set her for any back row attacks, but they just leave her in the back and let Texas take advantage. I don't get it.
Correctamundo…Coach Elliott completely out coached his opponent. Skinner alone(a former UK stud from Texas who transferred to UT and blossomed in the tournament) served Franklin in two different locations Franklin wasn’t comfy with. Why wasn’t she subbed for a DS is beyond me. 6’6 girls don’t like to sprawl on the floor. All the bellyaching I did our last month of playing was not the case with UN and UT…very clean vb and superb fundamentals blocking, service, and finishing attacks with a variety of well paced shots. Coach Elliott has three assistants, but his associate assistant doubles as the technical coordinator-imo all teams need one. Two best coaches in the country square off Sunday. I still take Huskers 3-1, although I like Texas and the recruiting of Elliott in the Louisville area (my old training ground). If Stuckey comes back fit, and we stay healthy, we will be back in the national spotlight imho. Interestingly, Skinner and Beason , who were both not top 20 players out of HS, played two seasons then transferred to get better coaching. Certainly not a dig at the coaches losing the players but you can see both at the top of their game heading into Sunday. Go Gators
Nebraska has no Seniors so they should start the Year #1 and will be the favorites to win it all. SEC will be a better test now with the Longhorns in it.
Just a fwiw from Texas coach Elliott on joining the SEC next year: After Sunday's championship match in Tampa, Texas' Jerritt Elliott mentioned he has SEC coaches meetings to attend in January as he dives into a new conference. The Longhorns have been in the Big 12 since 1996, with Elliott as coach since 2001. A powerhouse like Texas can only help strengthen the SEC. And Elliott thinks that league's growth in volleyball has been noteworthy even before the four-time NCAA champion Longhorns join. "Right now, my goal is to be an influence on the SEC to really promote this sport," Elliott said.
