"The Texas GOP executive committee voted against a measure that would ban Republicans from associating with Holocaust deniers and Nazi sympathizers.

"The committee, by a vote of 32 to 29, removed the clause from a pro-Israel resolution, according to The Texas Tribune. The resolution would have banned members of the party from associating with people who "espouse or tolerate antisemitism, pro-Nazi sympathies or Holocaust denial," according to the outlet.

"Members of the executive committee who disagreed with the inclusion of the language said that words like "tolerate" and "antisemitism" are too vague, according to The Texas Tribune. Some committee members said the ban was akin to "leftist" tactics and would be problematic for the party, according to the outlet.

"The measure came just two months after former Republican Texas state representative Jonathan Stickland met with white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Fuentes is an avowed Hitler admirer who has called for a "holy war" against Jews."

PATHETIC! Trump met with Fuentes also! Oh well, no big deal if Republicans do it.

If I understand, I think it is outrageous that they would ban anyone from associating with anyone else. The fact that anyone would have even thought to introduce such a fascist measure is grotesque. passing the measure woulda been a win for fascism, not a defeat. If the dems introduced such a bill, I would hope they'd have the fortitude to kill it. Good god, the BIG GOV pubs are obsessed with social engineering.

But, to be fair, it's not like the bill was about suggesting quantity of meat consumption or something.

The devil is in the details, and in this case - definitions.

Not sure why anyone needs to banned from anyone.

Jason Van Tatenhove? He said he left Oathkeepers after hearing some members express denial of the Holocaust. He has family who is Jewish.

    https://jweekly.com/2022/07/15/why-...caust-denialism-because-of-his-jewish-family/

I understand life is messy and complex and no one is exactly what they seem. But I wasn’t expecting a tattooed former militia member to be talking to me from a kitchen table in suburban New Jersey, alongside his Jewish aunt and cousin.

Van Tatenhove’s uncle, Toki Tolkach, married Robin Mintz, a Jewish woman from northern New Jersey. Van Tatenhove himself, who is 48, grew up in Green Pond, New Jersey, where one of his best friends, from age 2, was his cousin Sarah Coen Cwiak, who is a year younger.

“You know, they’re married into the family,” he said, “but they’re still family.”

Van Tatenhove, a former Oath Keepers spokesman, said he was living at reduced rent with his wife and two of his four daughters on a Montana property that belonged to one of the group’s wealthy supporters.
