I feel bad for the kid but not for the noles, they have a long history of intentionally hurting others teams players and then celebrating it.

I don’t like that we made a hit to the kids head no doubt. I feel bad for the kid but not one ounce for their team. I hope they get embarrassed by Louisville and if not, they should get trampled by any team in the playoffs.

I am probably in the minority here, but I think the QB slide should be taken out completely. Protect the QB in the pocket from blindside hits, and guys going low, but when they break that pocket and run they are a ball carrier. However, if they slide and they get hit before their tail even touches grass, it's too late to say oh please don't hit me.

Sliding players getting hit will always look like kill shots, because any hit whatsoever will throw their head back. If you don't want to get hit, go out of bounds or get down immediately.

Under the current rules, officials had to make the call they did, I just think the rule should be looked at.

I concur. The QB was full speed and then dropped just as the defensive backs arrived. It probably would have been a targeting call either way because if (paraphrasing the way the rule is actually interpreted) any part of the upper body of the tackler contacts any part of the runner’s body it can be called targeting. (Note, it’s subjective, as Max Brown was hit in almost an identical situation and no penalty was called). But if you run then you should have to start your slide with a 5-yard buffer between you and the tackler for it to be a penalty. This dropping a yard before you are hit is just asking to be abused.

Half Ass U has more than enough offense to win with a 5th string QB playing. If he can take the snap without fumbling they are fine. They have 2 good RB's, 2 excellent WR and a decent Oline. And to top it off their D Line is very good so Louis Ville is going to struggle. Would love to be wrong of course.

Am I the only one that knows the only way Louisville wins is if they are 10 plus points better than FSU. If I was a ref in this game and my employer (the ACC) made $30 million more for making the CFP then I would be bias as hell too. It is not the refs fault for bias. It is our fault for accepting that we have conference affiliated refs in football. Basketball refs are not affiliated to a conf and get paid by a conference. We need to start a petition to fix the stupid bias we are allowing to happen.

It’s not the end of the world if SWAC wins this one anyway, especially if it’s through obvious officiating bias as you describe. First, if Alabama and Meatchicken win, then a SWAC win could help freeze Georgia out of the playoffs, which is my ultimate desired end state today. Second, SWAC had little to no chance against any of the other playoff contenders even before their starting QB went out. The ACC cannot save them from the brutal prison love that would come in the first round. And I have some desire to see that as well. Doesn’t mean I’m not a big Louisville fan today, of course.

I agree with you. I am rooting for blatant bias in both big 10 and acc games because I want refs separated from conferences sooner than later. It is a stupid set up and they have it set up correctly on basketball just do same for football

Legitimate question, because I don't know....is the QB the ONLY player protected when he slides? Or do the same rules apply to a running back, wide receiver, or any other player who has the ball?

It's for any player. Not that I've ever seen a running back or wide receiver slide that way.
