If the defense can get to 10-12 turnovers for us and limit the totals yds against down to 400 we pick up 3 wins vs this year watch
I only see one major team on this list, Notre Dame. In any other scenario, those should look like winnable games.
You're right. Strickland does not make the schedule. But Stricklin does. At least the non-conference schedule. We can blame the SEC for the rest.
NC State should be a good game too. All of those at least should be interesting. If UF is what it should be, only ND is even a thought of a concern.
With Texas and OU in the conference and the drop in divisions it's going to be a rough schedule from here on out.
Can’t hold these Gators down…woooo. as a fan….that’s an awesome schedule. I love it. I’d much rather play games with some juice than prance around as a paper tiger eating cupcakes. that’s the assignment. The coaches and players know it and it’s their job to be ready. Sink or swim., I see the opportunity to stick it to the Canes and UCF right off the bat and hit the ground running.
I would not be surprised at a losing season but I could also see us going 8-4. I think we can start off 4-0 then lose the next two. Then I think we take the next two out of three and then the next two out of three again. For me it all hinges on Napier getting coaching hires right and having a rational coaching structure: a S coach (not Armstrong), a CB coach, one LB coach and one D line coach with a DC. And then on O one OL coach, one TE/ST coach, one WR coach, one RB coach and one OC/QB coach and play caller not named Napier. And all of those guys would be people who know about the thing they are coaching. None of this stupid having a linebacker guy coach safeties or a running back guy coach tight ends. I would also love a new S&C guy. One can dream.
Our Strength and Conditioning looks to be in total arrears since the hiring of Mark Hocke. All the in your face intensity he exudes when addressing the media is not impressing anyone in the know. We need a massive upgrade. MASSIVE. Unfortunately, he is a Napier guy and probably is staying.
I have been told, on a good-faith basis, that Napier will be back even with a 5-7 record! I am pretty sure that he gets at least 4 years. (In fact, I think that he will get a fifth year unless a disaster occurs). The buyout is very high and few Gators would be willing to put out their hard-earned money to meet it. IMHO But I, and most Gators, think that Napier will have the program rebuilt by year 4 or 5.
OK, Moderators, keep this thread because I am going to call a winning season next year, as follows: We beat Miami, Samford, Texas A&M (that program is in shambles), UCF, FSU, KY, and either LSU or Ole Miss at home. The MSU game is a toss-up because even though that team is rebuilding, that is a hard place to play, and the game will probably be a noon start. So, I see 7-8 wins next year, a good bowl game and improvement. Obviously, we have to address the OL, ST, OC and DL issues, but I think this coaching staff will work hard to make that happen. Staying positive, folks!
Iron sharpens iron. As Scooter Magruder would say, “THE FLORIDA GATORS ARE WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!”
I think you look at everything in totality. Has the defense improved? Offensive play calling? Special teams improvement? Less penalties? If there isn't marked improvements in these areas, then perhaps we should look for change.
