It was actually a little faster and easier for us to jump on I-10 and drive the ~30 miles to Pensacola.

 

Yes - right downtown. Of course, downtown can be walked around in 4 minutes.

 

Spent couple yrs post Navy working on a crew boat out of Theodore, Al. Lots of rigs in and out of Mobile Bay. Not like the Louisiana coast but still a lot.

Not many rigs can be seen from the beach.

 

Fairhope is pretty sweet. My buddy lives on the bay there and has a sweet boat in his lift. Can be at floating rigs pretty quick.
