For openers it’s in Ohio. Who wants to live in Ohio?

 

Dave Chappelle apparently. And probably people born and raised in Ohio.

 

It’s better than a lot of places in this world but with 49 other states to choose from I wouldn’t live in Ohio unless I had to

 

That’s why they all moving to Florida.

 

Well, it's certainly not my cup of tea but it's better than some states. I've lived in Alabama and I would never live there again. North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Nebraska are a few others that come to mind off the top of my head that I'd prefer Ohio over. But of course there are probably 30-40 that I'd prefer over Ohio. And that's just the USA.

 

There seems to be some correlation between awful places to live and great recruiting. Georgia, Ohios taint, Alabama…

Maybe since there’s nothing there but college football people throw all their money at it. Idk.

 

I've always liked the Blue Ridge area of NE Georgia no matter the time of year.

 

Do tourist from Atlanta ruin it like they do FLA Panhandle?

 

Born and raised in central Fla, moved to GA 5 years ago. Have no plans on moving back to Florida. I live 45 mins north of buckhead. Great place to raise a family. Love the seasons. Will do a week at beach in Fla each year, but that’s it. North Alabama ain’t bad either for fishing and golfing. I’m with you on Ohio.

 

My personal trainer is from ohio...and he moved here over 15 years ago and says he wouldn't go and live there..and he was born and raised there, has family there

 

Ga has beautiful rolling countryside and gives you a taste of seasons without it being too harsh. I lived there for a couple of years. Downside was urban sprawl and those pesky dawgs. Certainly wouldn't consider it an awful place to live.

 

Georgia isn't an awful place to live at all. South Georgia maybe not so much, but I lived in the Atlanta area for for 35 years and I really liked it. I'm not a huge fan of the traffic or what's happened to intown Atlanta, but the northern Suburbs are nice. I would say much better restaurants, music and shopping than Florida. And the North Georgia mountains are very nice! It's beautiful up there. Dahlonega and Blue Ridge are nice little towns to visit. Savannah is nice too.

There are good and bad places everywhere. I can't speak about Ohio, but I know people who love it there. Different strokes.

 

Actually, the tourists in Blue Ridge and all the mountain towns throughout the Southeast mostly come from Florida.

 

Thanks I did not know that. I figured there were a lot of weekenders and 2nd homeowners from the city.

 

Count me as one of the

many visitors

 

Unfortunately, sadly, in droves.

 

Many if not most of the rental homes in Blue Ridge are in fact owned by people residing in metro Atlanta. But much like people in Florida who own beach condos, those are investment properties that are rented out much of the year. Fall is the peak season and anytime there's a chance of snow, the "Floridiots" (as my ex brother in law in Asheville used to call them ) scramble up to places like Gatlinburg, Blue Ridge, Asheville and Dahlonega to experience the change of seasons they don't see in Florida. And the Floridians stand out clearly because they never have the proper winter gear, which is totally understandable.

No doubt there are a lot of Atlantans who go there too but usually just for a day trip.

 

I'm thinking about smokies about June to November and Florida the rest.

Non tourist areas preferred.
