Noticed an interesting story out of the panhandle. Barely mentioned, but three players joined Wakulla HS at the end of the regular season and contributed in their first playoff game.

Leon Washington Jr., OJ Vaughn, and Terry Arnold all transferred from North Florida Christian to Wakulla after the regular season ended (Wakulla won their regular season matchup against NFC, 42-21). Vaughn and Arnold are two of the leading tacklers in their district, while Washington is a high powered receiver. Washington and Arnold were first team All-State for Big Bend Class 1S last year. Vaugn was second team.

Couldn't find the box score from Wakulla's 46-14 win over Gadsden, but Washington did score a touchdown.

Kind of wild that the schools are letting them. Kind of wild the coaches are willing to do it. Seems like that kind of move could really destroy team chemistry and trust between players and coaches.

Seeing high school sports up-close-and-personal with my granddaughter playing (and grandson coming up), after being personally away since the 1970s, I have to say it doesn't surprise me at all. The fans try to act like each game is the NCAA and some coaches will do anything to win and advance themselves. I am surprised the governing sports body allows it though.

State Legislature allowed student athletes to play wherever they want, and the FHSAA is powerless to do anything about it. You must be on campus attending classes for 6 days before playing for your new school. I believe that is the only caveat.

My daughter coaches, I'm her assistant. Elite travel teams have ruined most of these sports.

Yep, I have a client whose son plays on one of the top 11u baseball teams in FL. The Prime out of Sarasota. He lives in Tampa and drives him down twice a week for practice. Anyway, he pulled his kid out of school for 2 days so he could play in a tournament in Houston, Th -Sun.

I thought once the season started if you transferred you could not play for the new team until the next season.
Maybe they changed it in the last year.
That’s how it was for my son last year.
A kid moved to the area mid season but couldn’t play until next season

How many bowl games could a kid possibly play in . He could have a season bowl record.
