We had 3 aces to 12 service errors. That's a 9 point difference. Arky had 5 aces to 8 service errors. That's reasonable; ours isn't, IMO. McKissock had no aces and 5 service errors, as an example. Her serve doesn't put that much pressure on the defense, especially when compared to Fitzpatrick. Just can't give away 12 points on your serve, while only getting 3 aces and expect to win a match against a quality team.

Elle had five SE for the second match in a row. I’m old school. And no way do I think a tough float serve is better accomplished jumping rather than feet on the floor…especially for someone under 6’.

Our hitters need to get the ball to the floor anyway they can, and not be owned by the block. They all know what can work, when. They learned those skills in high school. Jmo

I understand the general concept here. However, when we’re near the end of a tight set and not losing a point seems crucial, flying a serve 8 feet long or into the bottom of the net just seems to be a lost cause. Perhaps there are times when more care to get it in would be the right choice?

upload_2023-11-1_16-7-52.jpeg This is an example of an attacker, with a thumbs up causing the ball to cut to the attacker’s left (thumb down = to the right for a rightie), splitting the block. Our LH’s have difficulty maneuvering around the blocks. Jmo

I just saw that Paula Cerame is playing or Puerto Rico.
Her brother is on the Puerto Rican squad in another sport. I don’t know what it is.

Not sure. Sofia Victoria axe hammers it every time. When she's on she's great, but it seems half the time she can't keep it inbounds.

They most definitely should. It’s the attackers responsibility to put the ball to the floor, and they have at least 6 different ways to do so. Sometimes it’s the S who puts them in tough situations, but the attackers have to do better than hit balls flush into the blocks. Not just my opinion but the law ;)

    They wouldn’t be a D1 player if they couldn’t.

After 2 sets, we're hitting .141, UT .239. kills are even, but we have 15 attack errors to their 5 and we have 6 service errors and 3 aces to their 2 and 2. Just need to be more consistent in passing and hitting.

Played much better the 3rd set. After 3 early serves into the net, the serves kept them off balance, passing was crisper, they defended well and made the kill shots when needed. Kennedy Martin was awesome down the dtretch.
