The violence rate is currently lower than it was in the years prior to Roe. Or in the early 20th century. It would be hard to find a time in which life was treated as more important than it is now.

That is probably the reason. Beware of unintended consequences

Yes because it’s more Christian to have them killed in a school shooting because “Constitutional rights bro,” die of preventable diseases because vaccines are Satan’s saliva, or languish in an abusive home-life.

It’s really hard to take republican comments about the “Sanctity of life” like this seriously when republicans stand in the way of protecting the lives of the post born, demand capital punishment, and insist on having deadly weapons to kill any time they feel threatened.

It’s also laughable when republicans evangelize the idea of small government, putting families and their personal decisions first, and about the dangers of government overreach when they jump into regulating people’s personal decisions about pregnancy, marriage, or who can adopt with both feet.

Could also be some form of sunk cost effect. If your abortion provider is down the street, you might listen to counseling, go home, and then decide not to go through with it. If you have to travel out of state, you're pretty pot committed by the time you walk in the door, and much less likely to change your mind.

Just checking: this was the same document that allowed chattel slavery to continue to exist? Yeah, I don’t think the founders were great at that whole “sanctity of life” thing. All men are created equal, except those that are slaves, or 3/5th of a man! How was such an interpretation of the constitution ever possible? This is why “originalists” are deserving of nothing but ridicule.

As a side note: based on what I’ve read the founders would not have considered abortion to be any of the govts business. Which makes sense given their framework and explicit desire for small govt and to keep ideas of church and state separate. Abortion police is theocratic big guv. Has absolutely nothing to do with “sanctity of life”, only leads to death around the world, even if you imagine otherwise. If you don’t believe me, just watch those childbirth mortality rates rise in deep red states with the “strongest” abortion laws.

It will reduce them as we see in the states working to protect the lives you seem to support the legal killing of.

It will reduce them when you have to get a passport to find another country that supports the legal killing of the most innocent.

So your argument is that somebody will eventually have a child they don't want enough n order to motivate them to travel long distances for an abortion because it might require more paperwork? Also, in this world in which people don't want to get this paperwork but still want abortions, a massive black market for abortion pills won't develop?

Except it didn't reduce them. They went up. It moved them. That is different. Is your goal to move them?

If you believe something enough, the facts don't matter? Oh, and you don't need a passport to get into Mexico. You do need one to get back in the US legally. But getting back illegally isn't too difficult.

Still, when has making something illegal actually reduced the demand? And what illegal product or service hasn't thrived in a black market?

You aren't going to be saving lives. Sorry. You will be causing more hardships for women who have to travel farther, or worse, forcing them into having abortions in unsanitary conditions, which will lead to health complications. These are the facts, whether you like them or not. No amount of chanting "making abortion illegal will reduce them!" is going to change this, no matter how much you want to believe. Simply put, restrictions don't reduce abortions.

No doubt you don’t read your own because my post contained neither straw men nor red herrings. If you’re going to use logical fallacies it’s best to know what they actually are. Here’s a list.

It absolutely reduced them in the states that wanted to protect life. By a lot. I understand you want to support the legal killing of the most innocent for convenience. But we will see a reduction if we make the practice of killing the most innocent for convenience illegal and an inconvenience. Right now there are not enough states willing to protect the most innocent.

    LOL!

You come in talking about anything but what the thread is about. And with the clear intent to take a shot at me instead of the argument.

    LOL! I appreciate the laugh.

But there wasn't an overall reduction in abortions. The women simply traveled to a state where abortion in legal. And in fact, overall abortions climbed.

If the entire country enacted harsher laws, do you not think those who can will simply go out of the country for an abortion? And for those who can't? Well, when's the last time a law stopped a black market from being formed? And black market, read back alley abortion clinics generally come with an increase in medical issues for the women. Certainly doesn't reduce the number of abortions.

I am not concerned about providing sanitary conditions to someone so they can kill the life inside of them that they created for convenience. It should be an illegal act. As it is heinous to kill for convenience. We should not accommodate evil.

By not providing sanitary conditions, you are likely leading to the death of more women during the procedure. You are also condemning more women to being infertile and never being able to have children in the future. Just about half of women having an abortion are already mothers, and the average age is the mid 20's, meaning they have over a full decade to have kids if they choose to. Abortion restrictions also tend to lead to rise in suicide and suicide attempts.

For someone who claims to be on the side of life, your actions are proving otherwise and resulting in a greater loss of life, and loss of future lives.
