The Left Has Shown Its Moral Bankruptcy (townhall.com)

The response to the barbaric attack in Israel has exposed the liberal and intellectual left as being bereft of knowledge, insights, judgment, and compassion. The left has become a pathetic collection of ideological zealots.

The example above would seem to apply to our modern liberal left which has great technical knowledge but no moral depth. All of our leaders are university-trained, without exception. Some have bachelor's degrees while others have advanced diplomas. Yet, they have shown themselves to be morally bereft of compassion and understanding of the severity of the events in southern Israel two weeks ago. Virtually every important institution is openly left-leaning in its actions and official statements. Universities, governments, Hollywood, sports, major businesses: all of them show their left-leaning bonafides via commercials, public comments, rallies, or through their products. Nobody forced Anheuser-Busch to put a “trans” person on a can of beer and nobody demanded that Harvard students come out en masse for Hamas. These are natural outcomes of their worldview, and their worldview has been shown to be bankrupt and corrupt to its core. These people are the final product produced by our modern educational system.

Many of those who applaud or justify Hamas’ murder of over a thousand people, including young men and women attending a rave, are the most credentialed people on earth. We are not talking about illiterates (though Muslim immigrants do not need a degree to hate Jews) but rather university graduates or students currently at the finest universities in the world. If the marches and protests were solely Muslims, then one would not be that surprised that they brought their hatred with them from their home countries. But the ranks of those who have sided with the barbarians include many non-Muslim students, professors, professionals, and leaders. The US just vetoed a UN resolution condemning Israeli retaliatory actions but making no mention of Hamas' actions. The same one-sided arguments are made by Harvard students, “Jewish Voice for Peace” who crashed the Capitol, and of course Muslims, including those in Congress. When they said that Israel hit the hospital in the Gaza Strip it was a war crime; when it was conclusively shown that Palestinian Islamic Jihad was the perpetrator, some continued to blame Israel, while others said that it was just a parking lot and only a few people were killed anyhow. These people are the most educated our generation has produced. They fashion themselves as our intellectual betters. The university has been billed as a citadel of information and a place to find truth. It has been exposed as a grotesque echo chamber that produces poorly-educated, ideologically-rigid and inarticulate morons.

I wouldn't say all the left just the highly educated unhinged wacko left. There is lots of those on the left that have morals and compassion for others.

Using the example of those persons who have tried to rationalize the atrocities committed by Hamas as "the left" is no different than categorizing all Trump supporters/conservatives as neo-Nazis using the example of those who marched in the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville in 2017 and unlike the former president who commented that some of the participants in the Charlottesville rally were "good people" Joe Biden didn't try to rationalize the pro-Hamas rallies.

It’s finally hit me and this piece by the deep thinkers at town hall convinced me that we need to do away with colleges and higher education because educated people lean left.

This post is way out there. It implies that all highly educated are bereft. Where do you think bleeding heart liberal came from? This post is so full of baloney I decided to make you all sandwiches. It attempts to paint with a broad brush. Epic failure on the OPs part.

Educated people can be very knowledgeable and lack wisdom. They are not mutually exclusive.

Generally, the more well educated the greater insight and depth of thinking. However, the last two weeks events proves this is not always true.

If I need a brain surgeon (wow, did I just tee myself up) I want the best- be he or she of a different color, religion or language. I want the best.

If I’m stranded on a desert island I would prefer to be with someone who has survival skills - PhD or self taught. In this instance the History degree from an Ivy League may or may not be particularly helpful.

Tribalism. Its not a right or left issue, although they have teams participating. Most people are brain dead and use emotions to control their lives.

We’re pretending that the majority of the educated left is cheering on Hamas for the attack, is that it?

oh, and something about not having the baton at the end of a relay race.

In the OP you could replace the word left with right, Hamas with Russia, and Ukraine with Israel. And start the same thread.

Also, right leaning posters are bigly mad in this thread with all their downvotes. Fire away.

I don't think so. We just haven't figured out who he/she is yet.
    I've got some ideas.

Don’t know the percentages but I think there are strands of anti Semitism on both the left and right. One of many topics discussed here by Sam Harris and Eric Weinstein.

There is a coordinated effort to paint education as evil since only stupid people will vote GOP.

The GOP is tolerant of white nationalist neo-nazis and are trying to claim they are a better party for Jews is the apex of gaslighting.
