    Thank you, E2W:)
I was at that game (as I was for the following 30+ years)
What a blast from the past - I was sitting here, watching your video, and cheering like it was the first time:star:

My post was about UGA and not attacking UF at all. But if you’re serious, I’ll abstain from quoting you or posting in regards to any post of yours.

Perfectly said. Honestly, if we match their intensity, we are good. That means fly to the ball, wrap up, finish blocks, fight off blocks, don’t give the ball away.

All of the "run off the coach after two years" folks should consider this: in '79, Pell inherited a gator team completely devoid of talent in all areas. Lines of scrimmage were horrible. '84 was Pell's fifth team, and if you take the time to watch that video, you will see the best team in the country at that point. Loaded everywhere.

Napier inherited a team from a coach who didn't think he needed to recruit; lines of scrimmage were particularly bad. Napier can't fix that overnight. Even a badass recruiter like Pell took five years.

    1. Win up front. Plain and simple. Our 5 vs their 3/4 HAS to win. The last three years either Jordan Davis or Jalen Carter has wrecked us up front but they’re gone but still boast a very solid NT.

    2. Don’t panic. UGA’s gonna make big plays. They should because they’re more talented. Don’t overcompensate. Do your job. Play assignment football.

    3. Please no procedure penalties we tend to have often during games. Can’t willingly put ourselves behind the chains in the down and distance department

Don't mind rick. He's a tough nut to crack. Just peel back a couple layers and he's a sweetheart. . . . That is, of course, unless yer a 'Dog. :p

Thanks for posting this. I have such fond memories of that game. Was in the second year of my master's at UNT and flew back to Hogtown for the game with another grad student who was a Hawkeye. Well, he brought a little somethin' somethin' on the trip and at Charlotte, we stepped outside to enjoy it. Back then you could actually step outside an airport (esp. a regional) fairly easily and re-enter for your flight. The flight from Charlotte to Hogtown was the best flight ever. ;) Then there was the game. Doering was just dominant in that one and the Hambrick pick 6: At one point, there were five Dogs and no blockers and he just owned all of 'em like a boss, to score with :00 on the first half clock. My Hawkeye friend had an amazing time too.

Pell went 8-4 in year 2. Not a comment on Napier, just saying.

Doesn't really address the point, unless you can claim that the schedules were similarly difficult.

What was your point then? You implied that it took Pell 5 years to win. He had a winning record in year 2.
Schedules and the talent inherited are subjective as is the impact of the transfer portal and NILs. The W/L record is not.
As I noted, my comments are not meant as a critique on Napier, just clarifying Pell's accomplishments.

The point was pretty obvious. It takes time to build a program with talent deficits. Perhaps I should have made it more clear for you.
