So you think USCe should have given Muschamp more time? :D

Saying florida fans have some inordinate level of impatience or expectations than other major programs is one of the biggest false narratives our there and pushing that belief just supports the Paul finebaums of the world.

A Bama article I read about Gene stallings mentioned a program in decline despite them making the SEC title game in 96...

Bama had the reputation of a program ruined by their fans and boosters until they sold their souls to accommodate Saban and everything he demanded.

Mark richt was a winning coach. We would love to have his record for the past ten years and yet Georgia got rid of him.

Lsu had relatively short leashes with their last two national title winning coaches.

Anyone who thinks any of those schools would tolerate our last 3 coaches any longer than we did is not being honest with themselves.

I forgot about them ducking Clemson in shameless fashion. In hindsight it worked for them because another blowout to them especially if we had the chance to play them that year would have been reeeeallly hard for Norvell to overcome. The transfer portal has literally saved him and seemingly flipped our perceptions almost completely between programs from how they looked at that time. It's crazy to see where the two programs currently stand given where they were in 2020.

lol no.. See the difference is Will never learned his lesson at UF , because he pretty much brought the same staff with him to SC and ran the same bs offense.

Stoops realized for him to be successful he had to change. Muschamp was too stubborn to change.

    Orlando.... Again
If only we had a first round pick QB.

    Your prescription has already failed.

Absolutely. Recruit at an elite level consistently over years. Fill any immediate needs with portal transfers.

The talent deficiencies should work themselves out over time. We just need to improve in scheme and coaching.

Yawn. Same ole same ole from you.

So.. Senior Cubano's recipe is to fire the coach, then hire an ST coach, or did I get that order wrong (?), then hire an OC, if you haven't already fired the head coach, then fire the AD.

    Does that sum it up?

McElwain won the East twice and had the #5 class coming in. Before the death threats thing, UF had gotten ripped by Michigan, lost to LSU by 2 and A&M by 1. UGa killed us after the story came out he was being fired and the season fell apart after that.

So as much as everyone knocks him, he had us headed in a good direction, albeit a typical 3rd year dip.

Just as an aside, annyone else find it curious that a UF coach/assistant said he’d been getting death threats, yet this time no public release from UAA about it? Last time that happened, UF sure took those comments very seriously.

Don’t recall saying it did. I do recall suggesting it was a problem for this team, including during this game. I’ll standby for your “C’mon, man.”

As long as CBN continues to call inside runs on 3rd and a mile, call 3-yrd passes on 4th & 4, and continue to send the wrong number of players onto the field, he's not going to convince anyone that he has a process or is improving anything.

Maybe they practice all by theirselves or having a coach that isn’t doing anything at the time rotate over once in a while? Of course theirs someone in charge.

Mullen was a disaster. Took a moderately talented roster and gutted it.

All well documented- but I disagree he had us moving in the right direction. There was a lot more crap than just the death threats. Did he have some successes? Yes. Should he have been fired? I think so.

Well said. Claygator uses “We”, but to me he insinuates “you” in a subtle guilt trip to the fans he disagrees with being their fault we are not a strong winning program anymore. Have the last 3 coaches worked out? Obviously not, but he has yet to articulate why each one should have been retained (and the results would be speculation anyway).

I agree with this approach, but it only works as long as the recruits have faith in the head coach and staff. I’ve seen classes fall apart on Zook and McElwain when recruits stopped believing (probably Muschamp too; I don’t remember. Mullen had already stopped recruiting for his last class).

The reason recruits and fans stop believing is lack of progress. The losses don’t matter as long as there is an upward trend line. As much as coaches may think so, fans aren’t idiots. We know a crisp, well-coached team when we see one.

With portal, plenty have flipped things quick. Gotta show true progress if you’re going the long route. Gotta ask the question is what we are doing working? What does the data say? If mindset is will take 4-5 years I feel that’s wrong. You can win while building. Plenty have done this.
