"Multiple sources told SDS this week that Napier will make a change in the offseason and bring in his own coordinator. Time will tell if that is impactful, but first and foremost, Napier the CEO has to get the hire for who replaces Napier the coordinator right."

Hopefully it’s someone that can control the entire aspect of the offense and not some yes man.

Still going to be ultra conservative, that's who Napier is.

I completely understand the pessimism, but maybe the ole ball coach can have some influence here.

You may be confusing Butkus with Ditka. Da Coach is alive and well.

You gotta get balls deep in anything you want to succeed at.

The problem with some former QBs (there are exceptions) turned head coach or OC is that the ones who weren’t very successful often don’t believe the QBs they coach can pull off the throws they themselves weren’t consistently able to make. Spurrier was a very good QB, to say the least, and as HBC he expected his quarterbacks to make every throw and called plays accordingly. I don’t think Napier (at this point, at least) believes pass plays involving anything other than relatively conservative routes are reliable.

That just makes absolutely no sense, unless BN has been living under a rock in a remote cave and has not watched any other college football games in the last 10 years other than the ones he coached in the Sunbelt. Or worse, maybe he never heard of SOS or his legacy in the 90s.

In that case we are definitely doomed.

We are supposed to have two OL Coaches for a good reason. Either they HAVE to be able to make what they’ve got GOOD ENOUGH to protect our QB OR they’ve got to get their butts in gear and RECRUIT/bring in guys that can. INSIDE of two years now. IF we can hold on to DJ, we DONT need to waste his talent having to wait 3-4 more years for these guys to produce a winning Ol. Get it done or gettem gone!

We have at least one QB, maybe two QBs, on our team that can toss the ball for a good distance.

Somebody said in another thread our OL recruiting is not good. I don't follow it closely enough to know, but if that's true then I'm fully in favor of replacing Sale. Can't have a poor OL and poor overall offensive production as the OC/OL guy.

Sale has been here a little over a year. It’s been bad for years. They aren’t writing the checks for top oline guys in my opinion. There are very few and command big money. If we are offering the most money and they won’t come, that’s a problem. If we aren’t offering the biggest nil, you know why we aren’t getting them. We obviously have to have them if we are to compete with Bama and Georgia but why we aren’t getting them isn’t a mystery.
