No explanation given yet. But Hobbs just returned from a 1-week trip in SE Asia, visiting S. Korea in order to entice a large chip company to come to Arizona. Speculation is she isn't feeling well. Jet lag? COVID? Something else. Meanwhile, President Biden is in Phoenix today to give a speech honoring John McCain. Hobbs was originally scheduled to attend, but isn't. The transfer of power is mostly in title only, and only supposed to last a day, corresponding with Biden's visit. My guess is it's nothing to report other than maybe Hobbs isn't feeling well.

Seems odd that a one-week vacation out of the country didn't require this temporary appointment, but a possible one-day illness does?
Yeah, that was weird. IIRC, their law says if the governor leaves the state for any reason, the Lt. Gov. takes over.
No Lt. Governor. When Hobbs was out of the country, Secretary of State Fontes was technically in charge. Think he's out of state right now, which is why he isn't taking over for Hobbs today.

According to her she really didn't lose the election it was stolen from her through fraud. Although she ultimately lost the case this is from December 2022.
