That’s some tricky mess. Contracts don’t keep coaches from moving but does show appreciation so resentment doesn’t set in. So many coaches work ethic goes to shit as soon as they are financ secure and have no once to work. Staying hungry is key but what makes guys hungry. Some are naturally competitive and some like money more.

I love Armstrong more each week. Keep it going AA! Florida will only be back when the Florida Defense is back!

Amazing how assignment sound they were throughout the game. Against normal offenses it would have been great. Against a tempo team like Tennessee it was truly outstanding.

Thought this quote at the end was interesting and probably somewhat telling of why last years defense looked like it did

“I think [Austin] Armstrong just really trust his players,” Umanmielen said. “He’s not gonna go out there and rely on his scheme. He, you know, relies on the player. He tells us all the time, ‘Good players make good defenses.’ So you know, when he’s calling plays, he’s calling plays based off the players he’s got and trying to do it to their strengths. He’s not calling plays relying on the scheme. You know, he really has a lot of trust in us. And he shows that in his play-calling.”

Agreed. Great job by our staff, who deserve kudos for putting players in the right spots and let them make plays.

I love hearing this. I always wondered why defensive coordinators don’t do this when preparing for tempo offenses. I’m sure they use tempo in practice, but the fact AA went to an extreme level to ensure we were prepared is excellent.

CBN should figure out what Saban did for those years he retained Smart as DC. If anyone can decode how Saban retained Smart, it would be CBN. With that knowledge he mat be able to keep AA

What a refreshing change this has been. Besides a big win having a "D" that is bad-ass is truly what we've missed for a minute.

Being the critical bastard I am, I'd love to see the guys not get beat on the deep balls. I got the sense that nobody wants to run full speed-that is, unless they know it's a deep ball and by the time they find out, then it's too late.

But, compare this "D" to anything recently and it's hard to find any issues.

    Go Gators

i can watch our D now without the fear of being in 3rd and very long and hoping our opponent doesn't make the first down but knowing deep inside TG would strike again

Our coaches Grantham, and Toney were just awful on third down. Abysmal. This group is being coached up and educated by Armstrong and has been refreshing, and exciting. I'm not smart enough to know the inner workings. But suddenly, our offense seems to look less pedestrian. Actually, the last two games the kids were freaking balling out. It's amazing how a good "D" can change the game. It seems like we're dictating how the game will go. Not playing catch up to someone else's pace.

    Man, it sure is fun...

    Go Gators.

To get the most out of The Swamp you need a killer Defense. The defense is more important than the offense because that's when we can bring the noise.

    I like CBN saying this:

I think what gets overlooked here is maybe the scout teams and the job they did throughout the week replicating the tempo.”

Those guys rarely get any glory, but still work hard.
