I think we should win, too, but we should not be overconfident against any opponent... especially shouldn't be looking past anyone to a bigger game. We are better than we were, but we aren't good enough to start getting arrogant.

 

Yeah... a lot of hubris in this thread. I don't like it. We need to go out there like it's any other game and prepare like it's a tough matchup. This is no time to start acting like we've done something yet.

 

I hope Charlotte doesn't play soft. We all know we can run the ball down the throats of over matches teams.

If I were a Charlotte I would be blitzing and just trying to cause havoc, what do they have to lose?

 

I was up in Washington and didn't have the ability to post during the game. WHAT a game that was. OMG! But as good a coach as Tenn coach is, man, that dude could clean up his act a bit. A Bit slobby.

I'm not really sure if we've been engaging in any substantial degree of hubris since the unpleasantness in SLC or not - perhaps inadvertently? But it has been a relief to learn that BN might know more about rebuilding a collapsed FB program than some of his critics seem to think - at least for most of us anyway. And I find no fault in taunting UT, her fans, and some segments of the media - for the big talk in K'ville and the barrage of extreme negativity that preceded the UT game from the national press. I do agree though that counting any chickens at this juncture wouldn't be prudent. Taking full advantage of the opportunity to heal, gain experience for younger players, work on STs, etc., etc., will all take a back seat to winning the ball game. Fortunately, I suspect that BN probably agrees with that approach and will prepare and act accordingly. What fans want and say is largely irrelevant under any circumstances. GG!

 

Without question it will be a tough week for intensive prep. I’m sure Coach Napier will do his best to keep their mind on the present. But we have seen crazy happen. The Charlotte team has players too and good ones

On another note, the Charlotte defensive coordinator Ryan Osborn was a grad assistant under Hall of Shame defensive coordinator Todd Grantham at State and at Florida.

 

The Utah loss has nothing to do with it. I’m just saying we have people in here already talking about not starting Mertz and pulling the starters after the 1st quarter. That is hubris. I’m happy for the win and support giving it to Tennesee fans, but I don’t want us letting off the gas. In our championship contention years we went out to crush every opponent by 50 points… especially the lesser opponents. There was none of this let’s rest our starting QB nonsense.

If Mertz is hurt ok… don’t play him, but that’s different from don’t play him because of who the opponent is.
