If the Gators win the rest of the schedule and win the SEC championship, why wouldn’t they be in the playoffs?

It looks like the Gators are mathematically eliminated.

Seeing I was a little bored I watched the Colorado/TCU highlights. Good Lord, the whole game was played like a hurry up offense. Very fun to watch. It seemed like everyone was fast and had finesse. Not a ton of defense, but heck...

They deserve a ranking. Maybe even better. Should be an interesting year.

    Go Gators.

I just want to know their magical secret of how they lined up and knew all the plays. I’ve heard of this thing called “practice” but nobody knows if it’s just an old legend.

I did not watch this game, but I DID watch some of the USC-UNC game. Personally, I am much more worried about how other teams are easily able to do this and we still appear to be "conventional". This was NOT a very good audition for Year 2 in The System.

I hope so too. PFF gave Knijee Harris the highest pass block rating on our team for his 14 pass snaps. If that's the case, why do we have 2 OL coaches? Or if we have 2 can we get one that recruits more consistently players like Harris who are ready to go when they reach campus? I had higher expectations for the OL this year.

I just don't think the old handoff to the rb and short passing game which is usually horizontal in nature works well in todays game. Just like the bowl game and Utah game, teams will crowd the line and stuff the run creating lots of third and longs. When teams don't respect your downfield passing game and you are forced to go down the field by moving the sticks way too many negative things can occur including low scores. We've played 2 good defenses in the past two games and have little to show for it.
Our best teams in the past SOS and UM had offenses that got chunk yards, could score within 2 minutes. And I've seen Muschamp ball where the O was predictable and ineffective.

Good points. Better Offensive line/protection and things could change. If all else fails, come January, Lagway will be working out and will soon be the true threat we've needed. (Don nee no stinkin' line) Kid's a beast.:cool:Let's hope we settle down here this Sat and prime ourselves for a big game against Tenn.;)

    Go Gators.

You honestly think the best offenses in cfb don't hand it off to rb & throw short passes?

Not 85% of the time. Great teams can hurt you with medium and long passes not allowing the D to sit on short stuff.

Conventional like tge chiefs and bulldogs, nope…… I don’t think conventional is a very accurate discriptiin. How about sloppy or not skilled enough. Conventional is not the problem. Perhaps we could mask our deficiencies better with some smoking mirrors

Conventional, in my use of the word, means you are taking steps to get the play, give it to the rest of the offense, set up, scan the defense, make adjustments (if you are able), and set the hike in motion. That takes time. Others are going fast, whether it is end-of-game clock management or trying to keep the defense off-balance. And then, if we want to go there, if we are also talking about OUR defense sometimes being off-balance because of the time it takes to get the play in and confidently set up, well then we are at a disadvantage from both sides.

I see what your saying but that’s more a description of a team tgat doesn’t have their shot together when that is applied to us.. maybe simply if and just using the athleticism advantages would be better. Better short term or longterm is a big question though. Saban and Kirby and to a bit lesser degree urbs didn’t really scheme anyone to death, they out talent the other team while at tge same time look very organized and deliberate while doing so. The fast paced , line em up and keep them off balance approach has been affective somewhat but the big boys still win with talent. Tge nfl is on a whole different level and it’s not tge talent, it’s the ability to execute next level schemes. The top teams have three and four deep learning for a couple years in tge same system before they get the opportunity to play. The few freshmen that do play are around 500 guys who have been in the system a couple years so they don’t have so many confused players learning on the job. It’s easier to learn when the team is already playing a complicated scheme correctly. Good teams catch on to schemes and take things away. Our game against Bama with EJ for instance. EJ looked pretty good and if we had more time, we probably win tgat game. Defenses watched what he did to Bama and took away those quick line of sight throws and he was done. AR after the Utah almost always had a spy waiting offtackle. Spurrier got receivers in space and made you pay with his running back if you tried to get to much coverage. There has to be an answer when things are taken away. Utah just showed how to stifle our offense. Tennessee saw that and Napier has to have an answer.

Yep, they will run the weak ACC table and get destroyed in the playoffs.
