    She was a verbal commit to Ole Miss in Dec 2021, a more recent article says that she "put pen to paper" for the Ole Miss class of 2023 on National Signing Day. Apparently, Walton flipped her. I'm not sure whether she has to sit out a year?

    HIGH SCHOOL: Ranked No 13 overall in the class of 2023 by Extra Inning Softball and 12th among pitchers … Member of the Extra Inning Softball Elite 100 and the Softball America Top 100, checking in at No. 34 and 62, respectively … A four-year letterwinner at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Florida … Serves as Captain her junior and senior seasons … Holds the school record with 513 career strikeouts and counting, breaking it in just two and a half seasons … Owns a 1.15 career ERA in the circle … Garnered all-district, all-region and all-state honors in 2021 and 2022 … Posted a 1.66 ERA in 122.1 innings pitched as a junior … Tallied 174 strikeouts while holding opposing batters to a mere .159 mark at the plate … Member of the Hornet House of Representatives … Played for the Lady Dukes Lamar club team.

    You are a big-time strikeout pitcher; do you have some training methods to help younger players?
    Success for me is being able to throw to all four quadrants of the strike zone and the ability to change speeds. The higher you go in softball the more critical it is to effectively change speeds. Not everyone can throw 70 MPH. But if you locate effectively, change speeds and really spin the ball, you can be very successful.

    I have really been working on my change-up. The key for me is to trust my grip. I put the ball really deep in my hand and squeeze the heck out of it, then just think arm speed. The arm speed is really what fools the batters. I also turn my wrist over at the end which creates downward movement. I have had to train my mind/body to think that I am throwing a 67 MPH fastball, so my arm speed and leg drive are exactly the same with my change-up.

    =======
    So to summarize....Ranked 13th overall, 67 mph fastball, throws to all four quadrants, changes speed, and a has a change-up.

    The Sunshine Pumpers will be serving Crow for all the nay-sayers. BYOB.

    Does anyone know for sure if she can play this year? I'm trying to remember what was in my Granddaughter's NLI when she signed to dive at Iowa. I think, but could be wrong, that if she never enrolled at Ole Miss then the NLI is void. Not sure about that. If not, then at a minimum, she would need a waiver from Ole Miss and even that might not be enough.

    She just needs to be released from her loi. We’ve released multiple players in different sports over the last couple years. Pretty common practice. Ole Miss will really look the ass if they try to fight it, and they’ll lose anyway. More than likely, she had already been released before she started looking around again.

    Think Skylar Wallace and Patrick Murphy.
    Hopefully this is different.

    I know my daughter sent my granddaughter's NLI to Iowa to me to review and give advice before she signed it and thought I had saved it but I can't find it. Anyway, I found a generic one online but it was very old. It did clearly state that Olivia would need a release from Ole Miss in this situation and it does not seem to matter if she had actually enrolled....just that she signed the NLI. Not trusting that, since it was very old, I did find this that appears current and it confirms Olivia is stuck for a year unless Ole Miss grants a release. Asking for an NLI ReleaseI

    Doesn't matter. The NLI she apparently signed is controlling. She needs a release. Skylar is a different situation. She transferred while the SEC still had a rule that she had to sit out a year if she transferred within the conference. The SEC dropped that rule some time after Skylar transferred. Skylar could have transferred out of conference and would not have had to sit out a year.
