California High School going to spend nearly a quarter million dollars to change Concord High School mascot from “The Minutemen” to “The Bears” in order to be more inclusive. How do the idiots who voted for this get elected? Who woke up one day and said “Concord Minutemen…. That’s not inclusive, our children need help.” Oh, and then there’s that nasty musket thing. Can anyone here offer a genuine defense of this waste of money, or can we all just agree this crosses the line? Exactly. While the decision to change the name of the mascot borders on the absurd to most people it is completely irrelevant. The only ones who really care are a small number of culturally conservative snowflakes.
So local people want to run their lives according to their own values? What is wrong with that exactly? Seems to have little harm to anyone to move away from human mascots. Students themselves decided Bears.
And that’s a shame because the folks that have to pay the taxes to be spent with little or no ROI should be more fiscally conservative and raise hell about the money not being spent in a more sensible manner.

I can sorta see it from a geographic meaningful perspective. Minutemen is a Massachusetts thing while bears are important enough to California that one is prominently featured on their flag. And who cares if they make a change and why ?
