If Trump were like any other defendant accused of mishandling classified documents he should be worried about ending up like this person.
Reality Winner, Former N.S.A. Translator, Gets More Than 5 Years in Leak of Russian Hacking Report (Published 2018)
Or like this person who like Trump has also been indicted for mishandling classified documents and is awaiting trial.

Based on comments I hear quite often, I think these two distinctions are also necessary to tell them:

*If you PLAN to buy a boat to transport cocaine, the planning of it is not illegal. BUT as soon as you take the FIRST step, no matter how small it is, toward the end of acquiring a boat to transport cocaine, you have now committed criminal conspiracy. Even Googling the price of a boat would qualify.

*If you commit criminal conspiracy to buy a boat to transport cocaine, and then you fail to do it (which could include not passing the credit check at the boat dealership, or getting to the supplier's marina only to find they are out to lunch, and you couldn't get the drugs), you are STILL guilty of criminal conspiracy.

These are the two excuses I hear the most for the Koup Klux Klan: that either they didn't do enough acts in the attempted coup, or they aren't guilty because it didn't work.

That of course, isn't the law. When terrorists conspire to blow up a building, and "all they've done" is buy all the parts for the bomb, and assemble it, they don't get to evade arrest and prosecution because they haven't "done enough" like actually plant the bomb yet. And if they do successfully plant the bomb, and set the timer, and run, and then the bombing fails because the timer wasn't connected properly, they don't get to walk because their criminal conspiracy failed.

Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona just approved her AG to indict Trump for similar crimes to those in Georgia.

    Indictment set #5 coming up.

I love watching Democrats invent new ways to indict defendants. I'm old enough to remember when liberals actually stood up for suspects and defendants' rights. Democrats are now the party of indictment and denial of civil rights under the color of law. They proved this by naming Kamala Harris as their #2 and not to be outdone, "Crime Bill Joe" as their #1.

I'm so glad they got Ghouliani. He's going to flip like a pancake, plea down and give up the orange jello mold fast. I think most of the 18 will do the calculus and decide they don't want to die in jail for this con man who probably STILL hasn't paid them.

You type words, without saying anything.

    Let's unpack:

"I love watching Democrats invent new ways to indict defendants."

Question: What new ways did they invent? Every law in the indictments have been on the books for decades. I'll keep asking you to qualify or quantify anything you say, though I suspect you'll keep ignoring the requests.

"...liberals actually stood up for suspects and defendants' rights."

Question: What rights of the defendant Trump and his fellow defendants have been violated? They have received extremely preferential treatment thus far. Kid gloves is putting it mildly. He has yet to get a mug shot. He has yet to be arrested at his home and driven by the FBI or the local police to the station for booking, like virtually everyone in history have been when charged with the same crimes. Trump has been violating every order from the courts not to talk about sensitive or operative facts about the case, and they've didn't arrest him again and throw hi in jail, as they would literally ANY other indicted person.

"Democrats are now the party of indictment and denial of civil rights under the color of law."

Question: What sitting or former Democratic politicians have indicted anyone in the past 12 months?
Question: What civil rights have been denied in any of the Trump indictments or his sexual assault case or his pyramid scheme case?

Biden hasn't charged or indicted anyone. Neither has any other Democratic politician. Only impartial prosecutors have charged. And only 12-person grand juries of the peers of the accused have indicted them, because they're the only ones who can.

I think the first step towards you understanding how false your comments are about Democrats and the law...is to learn the first thing about the law (which you don't seem to know).

That was pretty sneaky of the Democrats to pass brand new laws and apply them retroactively to Trump

I am detecting a pattern here.

    1) I state some facts or in this case, a fact-based assumption.
    2) You post a very short insulting quip that has nothing to do with the topic (in this case, you go as far as to call me a cocaine user)
    3) Conspicuous by its absence is you supporting your comments and insults with any facts (or even arguments), your refusal to answer questions that would at least try to confirm or disconfirm my statements, and your refusal to stay on topics that you start.

Oh, you're such a sheep. You don't even know that Democrats got into Doc Brown's DeLorean and went back in time to write and pass all these laws onto the books, just so they'd be there when Trump came along and broke them all. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

    :D

Technically, if you plan to do these things and engage in an act in furtherance of, you’ve committed attempt. If you *agree with someone else* to do those things and engage in an overt act in furtherance thereof, you’ve committed a conspiracy offense. A conspiracy requires an agreement between two or more persons.

Trumpers can only defend their orange god with generalities like "witch hunt" because the actual facts are so damning to their arguments. They can't wade into the facts without being absolutely filleted by inconvenient reality.

Correct. I thought I implied that with the planning, but I guess one can plan by themselves, so I did skip over that detail.
