In 1951, FLORIDA beat what is now Loyola Marymount in football in a game played in Pasadena (yes, a Rose Bowl victory! ;) ). It was their last season of football.

Go Aggies. Go Cougs. Go Gators. But, really, thanks realu. Is the Alpine Loop worth a drive in late August/early September? What about a trek up through Logan or Bear Lake?

Alpine Loop is open until Mid/late October. You may have better luck seeing some of the leaves changing colors towards the top of Big or Little Cottonwood Canyon that early in the year (and you can take Guardsman Pass at the top of Big Cottonwood over to Park City which is a great drive and usually less crowded than the Alpine Loop).

While you are there for the game, spend a week out there and check out the five wonderful national parks south of SLC. Zion and Bryce are my personal favorites.

to cron78: you inquired about going up through Logan to Bear Lake. If you have the time, it's a great drive from Brigham City to Bear Lake. Last part from Logan to the Lake & Garden City is pretty spectacular. Bear Lake hits you in the face as you come over the pass. Nice overlook area, etc. Had a cabin there for 10 yrs.
    Sure do miss it.

Wow. Took me forever to get logged back in so I’ve just been watching forever. Live in Logan. Originally from panhandle. Flew in for the Auburn game a few years back and the notorious Bama game two years ago. Glad my Gators are finally coming to my house. I’ll be there in Section W8 (which I believe is Gatorville) in full Tebow regalia.

Good to see another Aggie on here. Cougs not so much. I live about a mile North of the stadium on 8th East. Kinda hard to miss my truck with Gator tats. Guess I’ve lived here for 30 years and don’t care as much for Bear Lake but yeah flat landers who can’t see more than 50 yards without a pine tree might enjoy the scenic drive, mountains and a drive around the lake. (Approximately 1 hour to drive around). Could also drive an hour and a half east to the salt flats from SLC if to Wendover NV to the casinos if that’s ur flavor.

Daughter is/was an Aggie. She was accepted to every school she applied to including UF, which the wife and I were happy about. She finished her degree at UVU after getting married and moving to Provo. Said she wanted a change of scenery when she chose Utah State. Wife and I were so impressed with Logan after going to see her in the Aggie marching band we told her we were thinking about moving over there, to which she replied, “If you and mom move here, I’m going back to attend UF”. Apparently she meant a different kid of scenery change than from slash pines and white sand dunes to spruces, firs, and white snow…

So here’s an option for all you folks that have an eclectic appreciation for music. Just scored two good tix to the Jelly Roll concert in SLC (USANA Amphitheater) Saturday the 2nd of Sept. I like his songs “Save Me” and check out his appearance on the Opry with Craig Morgan singing “Almost Home”. However , he has a rough background and does use plenty of colorful language.

I still remember almost 27 years ago how much it freaked me out coming down the canyon into this valley without pine trees every 50’ to protect me. I felt kinda naked. I probly don’t appreciate the mountains as much as I should these days. We do have a great little college town here. Bigger than I’d like it to be but still insulated from a lot of the Ogden/SLC crime and gang crap.

Collective Soul at Union event center in SLC Sept 29th. Small venue. 3k only. Tickets GA for $55. Been my fave band since 92 with Hints and never seen them. Won’t miss this opportunity.
