Patrick Murphy denied her request. The Wallace family doesn’t think much of him.

No offense taken, Johnny. Perhaps I should have used some facts to back up my statement. Delbrey had a strong 2021 fall ball. During season, however, in 111 innings pitches she gave up 70 hits (including 25 EB), along with 75 walks and 18 hits, meaning every inning she put 1.5 runners on the bases every innings and had an earned run at an average of every 2.5 innings. Out of her 25 games started, 15 were against mid-tier or lower programs - 60%. She pitched precisely 2 full games in 2022 and only made it into the 6th on 5 occasions.

We'll just make 2023 short and simple: 80 innings pitched, 63 hits (17 for extra bases), 42 walks, 20 HBP - placing another whopping 1.5 runners on base each inning and this is not mentioning those WP's both season that runners advanced or scored.

This is NOT what we expect for Gator pitching.

Her attitude made it worse (same for Gigante).

I am the first to say Bosch had to gooooooooooooooo but there is also doing what you need to do for the team. You don't need a pitching coach to throw, just someone to catch.

My post may not have been well received, but it was accurate.

Oklahoma and Texas transferring to SEC gives them even more money and still have very wealthy oil money boosters. Conference will be extremely competitive in every sport, men’s and women’s, moving forward. Wait to you see the facilities these programs provide their athletes. Arms war just beginning

Yep - Here comes Gatorfan5220 putting a "C'mon Man" on a post 18 days after it was made, just being a goof and not knowing anything about what he is saying. See Posts 1092 & 1094 on July 31 for context. He admits he doesn't take the time to read threads to gain context or fully understand what is being discussed. He has done this numerous times and I've asked him privately to justify his objections or cut it out. But he has no facts to offer in rebuttal and never explains why he posts a "C'mon Man!". He contributes nothing, just takes pot shots at people for no reason and gives no explanation for why he objects. Most of us on these threads do research, exchange information, kid around and respect what others have to say. But not this guy. He just lurks without contributing much at all and then criticizes without justification. I have no problem with people disagreeing with any position I take or any statement I make. But give a reason or state your own opinion in rebuttal, how about it?!!

Can he hire more off the field coaches to help him out with the recruiting and the transfer portal like in football?

What does this mean? I know all of our non-recruiting, non on the field football "quality control" coaches get paid, but they have no recruiting rights nor do they have on the field coaching rights either... unless it's the off season and they are strength and conditioning coaches.. Does Softball allow for that kind of non-recruiting no field coaching in the off season?

    From the article:
Schools that have resources at their disposal have always boasted deeper coaching staffs and had more personnel at their disposal; the most crucial piece and takeaway from Wednesday’s D1 Council decision is that those coaches can now be paid and receieve benefits like any employee instead of truly being volunteers.

I really think Coach thought he was getting one of those two pitchers. I am gong to give him the benefit of the doubt. I really think he is too good a coach to be in this situation. I really believe he was blind sighted.

There is no excuse for only having two pitchers on staff at the beginning of fall ball; especially a top softball program like the University of Florida.

Well to carry the thought experiment out fully, if one of our True Freshmen pitchers becomes injured or ill, we won’t be able to conduct a competitive scrimmage/practice. I’m sure CTW was caught unaware with both Vawter/Maxwell opting for the money and/or championship aspirations, but even if one had come we would still need additional pitch support. It is CTW’s job to be aware of his competitive position when battling the OU’s of the softball World; South Carolina certainly was, and found the funds to procure Vawter. As stated above there is no reason to be caught this short handed, as there were a number of choices available during the open portal. I can only hope and pray that both our new pitchers continue to heal and get healthy and strong. As I’ve said prior, I don’t want UF to become another OU, buying up everyone else’s proven talent for a year. Build from recruitment, developing kids that want to be Gators. This year was a special case where we needed to right the ship so to speak and restock the ranks of our pitching staff. Hoping for the best for Coach, staff and Team. Go Gators!
