I really wish people would read the posts and read the links. The suggestion here in the op, as well as the more than dozen links of analyis and thought on this subject is not a civil war involving any government or state actors. They may get dragged in to protect people/property, but it is not going to be a North v. South thing. It is American v. American on the basis of ideology fueled by hate and intolerance. Trump won't be the cause of it, or the leader of it. Trump will be irrelvant one the violence starts. Trump is only one of many sparks. George Floyd was a spark, but he only caused a small explosion. The next one, if it happens, will be bigger. Let's hope it doesn't happen.
I did not think it possible given the stupidity of the premise but this thread has got more stupid page by page. Now I gotta hear that the OP is a “marksman” like he is a “lawyer” and his ruminations on what caliber is best for shooting baristas in the impending civil war. Never mind that meal team six got routed and bloodied by unarmed drag queens. The only reason he’s not on ignore again is my current boredom and morbid curiosity of what further inanities he’ll bring to the table.
wut? “What is going to happen when 200,000 angry armed people confront 5,000 mostly unarmed ANTIFA baristas? The first confrontation will likely result in a lot of injured/dead baristas. The second confrontation may be the beginning of a civil war between the outer extremes of the political spectrum. Then everyone gets dragged in. Soldiers may get involved…and they will die on American soil.” To be fair to you you usually have no idea what you’re saying….
What you’re describing is basically a terrorist insurrection. A January 6th on steroids that would be squashed like a bug with the full force of the United States military. The Gravy Seals aren’t gonna do shit.
Based upon the current trend it is hard to see things getting better any time soon. Primarily it is based on people selectively getting their information / disinformation from cherry picked sources. It is hard to maintain unity if people don’t even agree on the basic facts. Maybe it all works its way out. But if you believe this is unsustainable I think we trend to more authoritarian government that has the ability to regulate information. That’s not at all what I want but what I suspect.
This I can TOTALLY believe…. sing … I'm a “lumberjack” and I'm okay I sleep all night and I work all day He's a “lumberjack” and he's okay He sleeps all night and he works all day … I cut down trees, I eat my lunch I go to the lavatory On Wednesdays I go shoppin' And have buttered scones for tea … He cuts down trees, he eats his lunch He goes to the lavatory On Wednesdays he goes shoppin' And has buttered scones for tea
Newsflash… The pubs in TooHot are the only positive thing you have going on in your life. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Hawaii is in Africa? I learn something new every day. I guess you must have read the report from the investigators that Trump sent to Hawaii to investigate Obama's birth. Donald Trump, wannabe President: I've sent investigators to Hawaii to look into Obama's citizenship Possibly the only time Trump admitted that he was wrong and even then he couldn't stop lying. Trump finally backs off Obama birth claim, falsely says Clinton started it
the last 3 years shows efforts and ultimate failure by government in censoring speech. They tried. They got bid tech to help them, but they failed because the info found its way out. I agree that the masses on both sides get brainwashed by establishment media, but the internet can’t be shut down, and people can get balanced information with some effort.
Kind of the opposite of what I meant. Establishment media is far from perfect and is often biased, but for the most part historically they tried to report the truth, subject to their biases and filters, and were mostly consistent. Now you have people coming up with their own custom information from all over the board, often not even close to being based in fact.
Super ominous. Maybe I should just capitulate now to avoid this ruthless curb-stomping. Nah, I’m in. Verboten letter all this blabberty blab.
I think this is a very important element. I guess the single most important reason the split has gotten so wide. My mother was in her 90s as the Affordable Care Act was going through Congress. If I truly believed the BS about the so-called government death panels deciding how long my mother was going to be allowed to live, of course I'd have been extremely opposed. But people apparently really did believe it. I recently read a bunch of comments (not on Too Hot) that Pelosi was really the person behind Jan. 6. Even here, we had someone post just a few days ago that Trump tried to send in National Guard but Pelosi wouldn't let him. If you believe that Democrats are kidnapping children to drink their blood ... how does a country ever come together?
