My fear is we didn't go hard after anyone else because we felt we had at least vawter. It's like we were so close to the finish line but tripped and other passed by us. Now we have to hurry up and dust ourself off and just get what we can take.
Better bring someone in. Counting on two freshmen to do the heavy work, albeit studettes, is not prudent imo.
Isn't there another portal in the Fall? I would think the prospects then aren't the same as what hits the portal right after the season. Fall prospects could be just disgruntled players who have been told they aren't going to be playing much. (Sorry for bringing it up....terrible thought to be going through this mess again.)
Tim has given it everything he can. It is not his fault. Most young people go for the instant money and do not look at 10 years down the road. In Maxwell's case no way we should or could afford that money. Besides the 4 years of grad school payments, they are giving her a large sum of money. We have no chance of competing against OU. There top 10 donors can buy sell our entire Bull Gator group. In addition, they can hire her husband into their oil company and not even miss it. As far as USC, they have one giant NIL for WBB that they dipped into to pay for Vawter. Believe me Tim is doing everything he can to get great players here.
Very well said. If maxwell does indeed end up at OU there's no arguing that either of the transfer decisions were about NIL.
I'm sure Coach Walton isn't done working the portal. Here's hoping he's able to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. I'm optimistic that when they take the field for the 2024 season, Florida will be able to compete with more than just 2 pitchers.
Perhaps Lexi Sosa from UCLA is worth a shot. And, I wonder how that kid that transferred a couple weeks ago from Wisconsin feels now. She just got sandbagged.
There is no fall portal. Only grads can transfer or unless approved by the NCAA committee so we’re screwed unless we go in there and get what we can get
So Julia, just off the top of my head, got some sort of NCAA approval to transfer and not sit out? Because of her father? And then both of them bombed out at Okie State?
Her second transfer to A&M would require the waiver. And that was probably because her father got fired. I don't know about her transfer from UF but that was her first and it was in the Fall.
We probably will pull an oregon and have a position player pitch this season and rely heavily on either brown or Keagan.
Korbe to the rescue. She pitched in high school. I doubt that's what she intended when she signed up but, perhaps, she is willing to die for the orange and blue.
