I get that. You won't be fighting in the streets. But there are thousands of otehr folks who have already begun this fight, and more joining every day. Just make sure you lock your door to stay safe, and we can both hope CNN is wrong.
Hopefully the irony isn’t missed. The poster who emotionally started this thread, in a long, crazy post threatening how maga will kill people because of some vast conspiracy, is now mocking someone. Below is from the OP and what maga will do. “The first confrontation will likely result in a lot of injured/dead baristas”
There's not going to be a civil war. There might be more MAGA insurrections and MAGA-perpetrated domestic terrorism. Our legal system will deal with them same as it has the Jan 6 insurrectionists.
Ok, there wasnt a civil war in the 60s or 70s and there were people actually trying to start one. I'd hate to see your nuclear take if there was unrest and domestic terrorism anything like the late 60s/ early 70s. The FALN alone carried out hundreds of bomb attacks in this country from 1974-1983. Cant imagine what you'd be saying if there was any group doing that!
Seems to me for Civil War to be a realistic possibility, we'd first have to see something far more directly and egregiously impacting, like economic collapse, or an overt attempt to fundamentally change our economic system. IOW, as long as the economy holds up, and private property rights remain intact, I do not believe there will be Civil War. Even THE Civil War came about, after decades of threatening to...'happen'... only upon the election of Abe Lincoln, and the apparently inevitable perception that with slavery to be outlawed in the territories, it would soon be outlawed nationally. Which amounted to what? A direct threat to the South's economic viability. Hence until either the economy collapses, or the government represents a direct threat to an identifiable group's economic viability (e.g.--Communism/land owners), no, there won't be a Civil War. What's more, with today's technology and the ability of the government to monitor communications--and their established inclination to liberally interpret and abuse any grey area of subject to interpretation, to plow through individual freedoms...the ability to organize clandestinely on a large scale, is next to impossible, leaving the option to wage *war* at and through the ballot box (i.e.-within the system) far more desirable, than full scale abandonment of law and order, all willy nilly, without organized structure and authority (as with the CSA in the CW), since it will be inevitably be crushed almost as soon as they start to form, like a nationwide game of whack a mole. jmho/fwiw.
Like how if prosecutors ask for surveillance tape and you message your flunkies to destroy them instead and said prosecutors get copies of said messages?
What you're referring to has nothing to do with people communicating in order to organize for purposes of political dissent. Trump's alleged destruction of surveillance, is a matter of spoliation of evidence within a legal proceeding, not espionage vis a vis communications necessary for organization and authority. So no, not really like that at all.
Requesting communications =/= monitoring them. You can chose to withold communications requested by the government, under penalty of law--i.e. the law can impose penalties for failure to comply...it can not produce destroyed communications, lending itself to a costs-benefits analysis to disclose or not. (See Hillary and her emails). Monitoring communications via FISA warrants, takes the choice out of the equation, and permits the government to help itself to the intel, and it decides what to do or not do, with said intel. (And naturally, if folks are conspiring to undermine the government, the government (any government) would probably take action on such intel. As a matter of self preservation).
Your second part is belied by the data. If people are numb to violence from entertainment or current news it is not reflective in their actions. Your first point is an anecdotal data point reenforced by the fact you feel personally affected by your personal feelings with respect to the current environment and you weren’t in the other eras. Even the BLM protests were vastly well mannered and heavily suburban mom and corporation supported.
I don’t think it will go like he thinks the proud boys got routed and bloodied by drag queens. Antifa, Black Panthers and pipe yielding Teamster mofos would lay waste. Meal Team Six would stoke out at the thought of battle.
Reading comprehension is a lost art. Nothing that you’re saying in your post is correct. First, I was not emotional when I posted the OP. Second, I made no mention of “MAGA”, not even really sure what that is, other than some alleged derogatory reference to 60 million Americans. Third, and most importantly, I did not threaten that anyone “will kill people because of some vast conspiracy”. Not even an FSU PhD would be that dense. Your hate for Trump has literally damaged your brain. you miss the entire point of the op, and clearly you didn’t read the source material I linked for the “vast conspiracy” which you clearly can’t comprehend, but so many think tanks, universities and journalists recognize and write about. Your myopic disdain for 1 person you have never met controls you. You are Trump’s bitch and you don’t even know it….till now.
you think a civil war is limited to state v state like our country experience in the 1800s. That is not what is being predicted. BTW, my op was not focused on my prediction of a civil war, nor do I (or the source material) claim Trump issues will be the cause of it. I project that prosecuting Trump for ridiculously stupid crimes is going to be a triggering event for protesters from both sides to meet, and there will be 1st shot, followed by a second…….. The underlying tension has been brewing for quite some time, well before Trump, and 95% of the tension has nothing to do with Trump at all. I just questioned why we would want to light the fuse and who really benefits from all of this?
At least 19 killed and upwards of $2 billion in damages protesting George Floyd’s Covid death. By contrast, our ‘insurrectionists’ had to bury a Trump, replace some broken windows and return Nancy Pelosi’s lectern. in September estimated that the Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioting and looting carried a price tag of as much as $2 billion. This effectively makes the 20 states where it occurred the carriers for the most expensive manmade insurance damage in U.S. history, ahead of the Los Angeles riots of 1992 after the acquittal of four officers for beating Rodney King.
Well F me and this damn data/links/articles/proofs/evidence/opinions……. It’s not even fair….. Stress of mass shootings causing cascade of collective traumas Emotional Desensitization to Violence Contributes to Adolescents’ Violent Behavior Mental health workers say Americans are becoming numb to violence after mass shootings Experts say society becoming numb to tragedy after mass shootings Feeling numb about recent mass shootings? https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/05/13/mass-killings-mental-health-toll-trauma/ Opinion | America’s ‘Psychic Numbing’ to Gun Violence (Published 2022) America’s culture is desensitized to violence Are we becoming numb to violence? Sen. Chris Murphy: "America Has Become Numb to Violence" Moral of the post: Next time you want to post a useless graph, spend the time better by educating yourself.
Unbelievable, you used a column from CNN to support your case and then you post this lol. You need to make up your mind!
I didn't post a poll. I posted FBI reported crime statistics. You posted op eds and polls. You are not very good at this.
Remember when that Trumper put his feet up on Nancy Pelosi’s desk ? That’s the day I just about lost it.
