Sounds like Urban 2006-8. Result: Meyer two nattys, Smart: two nattys. Can a coach win consistently without recruiting bad boys? Saban can and I hope CBN can.

Saban and Bama have recruited and coached plenty of Bad Boys....and have just as quickly swept any of their transgressions under the rug.

 

I see Saban booting them off the team regularly in past years. Every program makes cost/benefit calculations when a kid screws up but you don't see Bama in the news very much. Maybe they have a better rug sweeper than Georgia.

 

Well the last one I recall was their top OLineman who got pinched over in Louisiana for having a stolen handgun underneath his car seat:

Of course there was that little issue of the Murder of that girl from B'ham, but I guess we can't pin that Saban, just Alabama as a whole.

You're making my point. That was six years ago. Not exactly a rash of miscreants on Saban's roster. Compare that with Urbans teams where you had somebody being arrested every week it seemed. I recall that his 2008 team racked up 31 arrests. No sweeping under the rug in Gainesville.

 

Those that find their way to the top in college football often seem to need to eventually give the devil his due to stay there. That's one reason I'm happy with the Napier hire. I feel confident that he will never knowingly let that happen on his watch.

I'm old too (class of '88) and girls dressed in skimpy Dolphin shorts and tank tops then. Doesn't matter though. Nobody deserved to be harassed or assaulted. The problem isn't how girls dress it's how boys are raised,

 

Strawman argument. I don't recall a single post on this thread that even remotely suggested that someone deserved to be harassed or assaulted because of their choice of dress. You're tilting at non-existent windmills.

 

He’s not saying anybody “deserved” anything. The point is that women can put themselves at increased risk of attack by these lowlifes, just as I can set myself up to be a victim by walking the wrong streets at night. There’s a huge distinction here and it’s too easy and unfair to blast someone for making this point
