It’s being reported that Maxwell will be taking some visits this week and weekend. It seems she visited or is visiting Oklahoma at the moment.

A well known reporter at FSU by the name of Chris nee reports that Texas seems to be the favorite for Maxwell at the moment. I hope this is true and Texas will at least get a visit this week.

Lots of Maxwell rumors. If OU signs Maxwell, and I was May... I'd be pissed. They would tell me that Patty doesn't think I can be the #1 and maybe not the #2 with Keeny signing. We'll see. Maxwell should come to Florida.

 

I went to a couple at the library before they moved them to the bandshell. The one I hazily remember was with Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics. Good times….

 

Diamond Gators is a rumor board as well as a message board. I have never seen so much speculation about two players in my life. It is fun to follow but it sure is frustrating I'll be thrilled if we get a third decent pitcher.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but we don't have any softball insiders per say that help us as fans out any do we? FSU has Nee, OU has Plank, Bama has the two that do the podcast.... you'd think by now we'd have somebody who really was invested in softball.

 

I think Maxwell just married a full-blown cowboy so it probably is going to be Texas.

 

Maxwell's husband is from Ontario, Canada. He just finished his senior year playing baseball for Oklahoma State, his 2nd year with the Pokes. He played for South Carolina in 2021, JC before that. Not sure if he has another year of eligibility, but if he does he still has a week or so to enter the baseball portal and go wherever she goes. The attached article first says Kelly pitches for Ohio State, then changes it to Oklahoma State. They've been married since October 2021. She's from the Houston area, so transferring to Texas would make sense, although I'm not sure what Texas' pitching situation looks like - probably not as desperate as ours.

What Happened?

 

Oh. I saw that photo of him with his cowboy hat on her Instagram page and it was the first photo so I figured the marriage was recent. I was kidding, anyway.

 

If Texas throws a bunch of NIL money at her, plus considering the logistics of family and marriage, it would make sense for her to go there, though. I'm still hoping she & Coach Walton made a connection while on the US National team.

 

Well has anyone heard anything about vawter?

 

Still weird people transferring to rival schools. NIL so needs to be standardized nationally.

 

Just an FYI on Texas softball. Their 2023 recruiting class was ranked #4 and included a Top 10 pitcher, who coach Mike White says is a future ace. They have rising sophomore and rising junior pitchers coming back, both of whom were 2nd team all-Big 12, plus 2 other pitchers on their roster, one a rising senior and the other a rising junior. Maxwell would, of course, be their ace if she goes there, but I don't think they had any players transfer out. They had 21 players on this year's roster with only 1 senior and have already signed a quality position player from the portal and have 6 incoming freshmen. Roster is pretty full.

I know a certain UF Journalism grad that would be a perfect guy, he already has many inside sources both here in town and in NC

 

Does he do a podcast talking about gator softball or post or anything?

 

Maxwell was committed to Texas until they changed coaches. I don’t see UT landing her with how full they are.

 

In short, do we really know anything definitive about whether Vawter and/or Maxwell are coming to Florida? Most of this information seems like rumors/speculation/hope. I do hope they both come to UF.

 

Do you remember the carnival game where you threw darts at balloons that had a prize attached to it? There you go. LOL.

 

Hope it's not telling but it seems like all the florida smoke for the 2 pitchers has died out. Maybe not vawter things are very quiet there but maxwell for sure.

 

Hope those results are not reflective of our portal results. I always sucked at that game

 

I'm hearing we should know some news the end of the week to the beginning to end of next week. I'm still leaning towards a Vawter commitment soon. Kelly on the other hand is different for me. I mean. I'm supposed to believe Kelly committed while she and Tim were out of the country? If she did a random person know this information? Did it slip out accidentally and someone spilled the beans? Or was it because Tim and Kenny are friends and the assumption was made because of their correlation?
Also I need to add kelly was in Norman yesterday for a visit. which is crazy to me. I've read the things OU fans have said about Kelly and some of them were pretty at all. She's going to transfer to a school where the fans bashed her? It's also weird to visit Ou when they got Keeney because kelly was allegedly not going there. Just speaking from a playing standpoint. Kelly best chance of getting significant playing time is at Florida.
