I haven't followed him a whole lot over the years. I do recall seeing him on Bill Maher a couple times and thought he was a good guest. I tended to think of him as being slick but maybe not that relatable for some reason. I watched his recent interview with Hannity and thought he was respectful but worked Hannity over in a way I haven't seen in awhile. Just read for the first time that Newsom was a co-founder of PlumpJack, including the winery. That was one of my most memorable winery experiences from back in the day, but I had no idea he was affiliated until I just read his Wikipedia page. Curious what the posters here think about him either way.
He may be a bit too liberal for my taste but he handles himself well on his feet, seems competent and isn’t 100 years old. While he is liberal on some environmental and energy issues he is fighting liberals in his home state who are standing in the way of progress. Overall I’d be fine with him. While I like Biden better, I think Biden is too old to run again.
Popular bumper sticker … HONK IF YOU’VE WORKED OVER HANNITY Newsom ? Troubling a troubled state and among the very worst of the Covid territorial dictators.
But if I had to predict he’ll be the next POTUS, if only because there are millions more Americans who hate Trump than like Newsom. Wild Card: how many Californians would now vote for him ?
Mitt Romney vibes, but I think there are people posting here who think that's a good thing lol. He is definitely a party man, and dutifully vetoes progressive legislation that unnerves the wealthy donor class, as all top Democrats are expected to do.
Typical hypocritical politician. Proclaimed the importance of masking and sheltering in place and was shortly exposed partying with his friends at the exclusive French Laundry restaurant without masking. "Here are the rules for you peons....my friends and I will conduct ourselves in the way we alone see fit." Pass. It would be interesting to see a battle of the Governors: FLA vs. CA.
It does seem like Newsom has been very active recently, but how do you envision him running against Trump? You think Biden is going to step down before the Dem nomination and Newsome is going to be the nominee?
Future VP or Pres Would be good for America I get it, if you’re GQP you don’t like any dem running I get it. Would young voters choose him? midwesterners?
It’s a good question. All the DNC had to do in 2020 was prop up Biden like Bernie and wait for the hate to take hold. Now that he’s POTUS it may be the case that Washington is being run by his handlers. If that’s the case there would be no need to run anyone else unless he dies or is [further] disabled.
That's funny. I'm just talking about general gossip, and the fact that he has a lot in his background, and that he's made a lot of enemies even on his side. I don't really have any special inside sources
I live here in California and you wouldn't want Gov Nuisance on a national scale. We can't stand him running this state.
Typical politician. Smooth talker that never gets anything meaningful done. Based on that statement, I expect our intelligent voters to make him president soon.
Phrase that should be retired: “The collective wisdom of the American public.” Granted, that would put pollsters out of business.
Worked Hannity over??? I'll say he held his own with Hannity, but Hannity didn't really go after him aggressively, he just let him speak, and GN made a respectable showing. Props to GN for that, but you ought also give Hannity credit for letting the guy defend himself and market his brand, without orchestrating a massive hit piece. I actually thought it was refreshing to see 2 dudes on opposite sides of the political spectrum able to carry on a respectful dialogue and discourse without skirting the issues. That's props to Hannity, not bad on him.
Yeah, I thought it would a good discussion. Maybe my language was a bit strong. Hannity tends to throw out multiple arguments at once, and it's not easy to navigate that style.
I think he is a solid choice. Good speaker, rational ideas. Comparing his likeness to Romney seems right on to me. Not particularly warm but seems like he has all the qualities (good and bad) that makes a politician successful.
