You may be right. But imo…this has a UF administrator pushing an agenda. Students want to add to their resume. And we are requiring them to do something abnormal if you ask me. Unacceptable and embarrassing honestly.
I don’t even understand the need for this topic in general. I have never used a pronoun for a person in the presence of the person. I use their names. I think pronoun use in front of the person is actually rude. I may occasionally use a pronoun to describe another person while in a conversation with a third-party. But if that’s the case, what difference does it make what pronouns are used because the person I am referring to doesn’t hear them. Being a social justice warrior is just stupid.
Not at all. My kids will go where they want to go. The only schools I would even considering a push against are fsu/uga/tenn/miami…. That said. UF has lost me for full support. Pushing an agenda and not letting kids be themselves is the antithesis of what a University is suppose to represent. UF was left when I attended and left today. But this crap needs to stop…
Progressives taking advantage of Republican politeness is how we got in this mess in the first place.
What are you talking about? No fear at all about inclusion. But yes fear that we force people to act abnormal…
And even if it wasn't "mandated" from the top down, that's a pretty solid illustration of how cultural contagion works. One or two people do something stupid, others are scared of being different even if they know it's stupid, so they mimic the stupid activity. All of a sudden, the standard for normal has shifted.
Introducing yourself with your pronouns is not a sign of your inclusivity, it is simply a sign of your fealty to the notion that the entire English language should be altered to validate the feelings of less than 1% of the population at the expense of truth, language efficiency, and effective communication. If a woman suggests her pronouns are "he/him," and we're supposed to just pretend that on a societal level, then gender really ceases to mean anything. And I know that's really the whole game, "deconstructing all traditional norms," but that's a far cry from "inclusivity."
Plenty quick. Was making a point with the statement. You can add nothing like you did knowing that. But that is on you…
You were making a point alright. And not pretty quick. Self awareness- another thing in short supply among Trumpaloons
