It occurred to me that I didn't understand gender so I have been reading articles and listening to lectures on gender. I had heard the gender is a spectrum. What does that mean? In science I understand that spectra can exist. They can be measures defined by wave lengths for example. How does that relate to gender? Short answer is it doesn't. According to the APA people manifest gender. They feel gender. There might be some physical cause, there is speculation of what might cause trans people to feel that way such as "prenatal hormone levels, early experiences, and experiences later in adolescence or adulthood". As far as I can tell there is nothing in the real world that one can weigh or measure that indicates transgender. If one manifests transgenderism one is transgendered. If a male feels an urge to manifest femine traits (they?) are to some extent transgendered. B Nothing in the real world causes it. It creates itsfelf. There is certainly nothing that can be show where on the spectrum one lies. I was still confused. This morning I listened to a professor who is an acknowledged expert on gender. She said performance creates reality. She gave an example of marriage. If you go through the rite of marriage your reality has changed. (I'm not sure of her definition of realty. Everyone would acknowledge that your social/legal reality has changed but is that the definition of reality.) Godel famously espoused mathematical Platonism. His detractors asked if math exists outside of the physical where does it exist? Likewise one might ask if two spirit people exist where do these spirits exist? Traditionally masculine and feminine were defined by sex. To be feminine meant adopting behaviors related to the ability to produce and care for children. Since human babies need so much care, in order for the species to propagate, the child and its caretaker needed to be protected and provided for. Everyone couldn't go hunting and or gathering while the child was left alone. These roles were assigned to be masculine and feminine. My question is if you take sexual reproduction out of the equation how can masculine and feminine exist? Where does the gender spectrum lie? Without the reality of the sexual role in reproduction how can there be an ether in which the spectrum could even theoretically exist? That being said, I now understand the importance of pronouns to the faith of transgenerism, yes it is a religious faith, the conviction of things not seen, unmeasurable. The performance of calling a biological male, an offensive term according to APA, a female creates the reality of their womanhood. The rite is what constructs reality. To refuse challenges their interpretation of reality itself.
It was quite clear that was part of the introduction. So I would say yes. Some administrator in charge of these tours has almost surely made the decision that the guides shall introduce themselves with their pronouns. All six did it when my buddy took his daughter. I have heard about this from others as well. Hard to believe 6 people made the decision on their own to introduce themselves with pronouns. I have yet to ever have this happen in my life. And to think all 6 guides made the decision to do so pretty much says it is the policy. I assume if we met that you would not say…”hey rivergator he/him/she/her/etc”
GatorFanCF is actually code for: “The Amazing One, insightful, funny and highly respected” My truth compels me to ask all of you to address me by my actual name, not the code - which we all know is a social construct. Thank you for addressing me properly. Signed, The Amazing One, insightful, funny and highly respected
I think the main point here is getting people used to the fact that the world, its language, and its customs revolve around trans people. DEI is the new sheriff in town and you best get used to it.
You Trumpaloons are obsessed about other peoples genitalia. I suspect it’s because you have issues with your own…
I don't care for Trump one way or the other. I'm more against this stuff because I don't like the fist in any way shape or form, whether it is the communist fist, the BLM fist, the feminist fist, or the rainbow fist.
Useful cognitive dissonance-based deflections … “Trump!”, “small hands”, “[your own] genetalia”, and the time-honored “Squirrel!”
The OP is spot on, though. Biologically female mommy, married to biologically male daddy procreating to have kids is what has been considered normal for millennia. It is the consensus of human history. There is a concerted, well-funded, societal effort to buck most human civilization in world history as bigots on this subject and social engineer a new consensus. The strategy is to slowly capture the centers of cultural production: churches, schools, corporations, and government to force that consensus on the rest of the population. I think we have a right to tell people who want to do that to take their rainbow fist and shove it up their rear end.
Lol ….. for centuries “he/him”, “she/her”, and “it/it”, “they/them” were all “we/us” needed …… and these remain more than adequate to cover anyone’s needs.
Curious: is this an issue in other countries that don't speak English? For example, most of Latin America speaks Spanish. Is it a big issue that a biologically born woman transgenders and then asked to be called "Senor" "el" and "ellos" for Mr., him and them (masculine)? Is it an issue in Malaysia? Mozambique? Vietnam?
Thanks. Maybe the tour guides took it upon themselves at a meeting, or maybe it was dictated by an administrator,I don't know. I consider it kind of silly if the students did it. If the university did it by official policy, I'd say it was ill-advised. I don't know that it's anything I'd get upset about
Jamming. Making the abnormal normal. The crazy thing is some here want to talk 1939 Germany (@ncargat1) about a homeowners association when we have a University (Our University) pushing this nonsense on students giving tours. @ncargat1 should be far more concerned about what UF is doing!
No trauma here. My kids will be fine wherever they choose to go. But the frustrating part is UF certainly is not making a case for itself when it comes to what Universities are suppose to be about.
