No, they dealt with the merits. It was a shameful opinion. Republicans in robes are leaning into the Pace v. Alabama standard in dealing with transgender cases. For those who don't know, Pace v. Alabama was one of the cases overruled by Loving v. Virginia. It basically said that bans on interracial marriages don't violate the Equal Protection Clause because they ban interracial marriages for all races. And that argument about statewide injunctions is clownish.
So your position is based on ignorance and not hatred. This may help you: Transgender Pregnancy: Moving Past Misconceptions I stand corrected. You are both hateful and ignorant. Congrats?
That is the argument I was referring to. Plus a lot on burdens without really weighing. Only read once
A female that wants to be a male & have a baby should also be nowhere near children. It's not hateful. It is common sense, which many here do not have. Most.
Any evidence that a transgendered person's presence is harmful to children any more than a cisgendered? Please provide it. If you can't, you are being prejudiced without cause. That would be deplorable. Can you provide any studies, surveys or whatnot to support your position? I'd be grateful if you could share it.
My wife is good friends with a transgender person, female turned male, and I'm like 99% sure the last thing he wants to do is watch other guys take a dump ... The bathroom thing doesn't make sense to me ...
This is just so wrong. It makes as much sense as me saying Christians should not be allowed to have children. It’s just common sense.
I just hope the kid in your avatar didn’t grow up with a bigoted person such as yourself as an influence.
Since you have no factual evidence that transgendered parents are harmful to children and you insist on being prejudiced, are you okay with us calling you a bigot? @studegator and @Orange_and_Bluke, you rated Tj's accusation of the dangers of transgendered parents as "Winner", do you have any evidence that children are at risk? FYI... maybe this will change your mind: https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/Trans-Parenting-Review-Oct-2014.pdf
The answer depends upon who you ask. It isn’t a case of you have uterine cancer and the uterus needs to go to save your life. Many have second thoughts, many despite irreversible surgery still are not happy in “their bodies”.
If you use that argument then breast implants or penis enlargement could be considered healthcare if the patient had considerable mental stress about the size (or lack there of) of their parts….
I will leave it to the medical professionals to determine how best to treat medical issues and what evidence-based treatments perform best in treating those issues. I'd rather have my doctor decide what healthcare is for me than some dipshit legislator in Tallahassee. How about you?
You’re mixing two issues. Since transgender and reassignment surgery are somewhat new(yes it’s been going on for years but Very very small sample size). I doubt there really any clear studies that show benefits on way or the other. With that said it’s somewhat hard for medical professionals to make a truly evidence based decision. The first tenant of medicine comes to mind… Physician do no harm
There are numerous studies that show clear benefits of gender-affirming care. That's why the professional standards support the appropriate use of gender-affirming care, including gender-reassignment surgery at the appropriate time and age. As I said before, do you want politicians in Tallahassee determining your healthcare or your own doctors?
State regulators make determinations regarding medical procedures and healthcare all the time. You’ve heard of the board of Medicine right? From who can practice medicine to what procedures can be done where and by whom. Hell insurance companies have a much bigger say than your doctor in most cases.
You've heard of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Endocrine Society, right? When all of these groups and the consensus of the medical community as a whole endorse a course of treatment, that should trump what politicians think, yes?
You live in a bit of a dream world here. Many of those groups “endorse” courses of treatments for various reasons, that doesn’t mean that they have the end all be all say in what the best course of treatment for any one particular situation. Just as the law isn’t always black and white neither is the “practice” of medicine. Like it or not “politicians” have been helping shape medical care for decades, see the FDA, Medicare, medicaid. Even the AMA which you like to put out as the authority his it’s political leanings, often due to financial reasons, hardly for what is best for patients. Many Docs that I know want no part of the AMA due to their politics. Ex: the AMA for decades has been hostile to mid level providers because it would diminish the need for Doctors and lower their power all due to money. So you’ll forgive me if I don’t bow down to the great AMA.
Hilarious. Basically every major medical association opposes the efforts to ban gender-affirming care, but I live in "a dream world" because I call bullshit on people like yourself who try to argue it's not healthcare and defend stripping patients and medical professionals of their ability to use that healthcare. Not a single person here is arguing that they "have the end all be all say in what the best course of treatment for any one particular situation." In fact, I am arguing the opposite. I am arguing that we leave it to the patients, their families, and their doctors. So you can spare me the straw man argument. You are the one who jumped in to defend stripping people and their doctors of their choice of treatments, not me. When politicians are banning one group from being able to access healthcare and making those same treatments available for other groups, it has nothing to do with shaping medical care and everything to do with discriminatory animus. You can deflect and talk in circles all you want, but this has nothing to do with medicine or patient care. And you can hate on the AMA all you want, but you're not just at odds with the AMA. You're at odds with basically every major medical association. The AMA, the Endocrine Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Urological Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and the list keeps on going. But hey, I'm sure they're all wrong about healthcare. It's the Republican politicians who actually know medicine.
