We have a prosecutor in New York who campaigned on going after Trump who just indicted him. Yet most of Too Hot (and probably most Democrats) still defended it.
So escalation isnt turnabout? If Biden had just said I want to imprison Trump, that would have been turnabout as long as he did nothing more than that?
Any pardon of Trump would have to be tied to him agreeing to stop spewing hatred and division and spreading BS about stolen elections, witch hunts and weaponizing the DOJ. But Trump would NEVER agree to go away and shut his mouth. As a sociopathic narcissist, he couldn't live without whining and crying like a baby about being a victim, even though he brought all this upon himself.
Special counsel has already been appointed in the President Biden documents matter, Robert Hur. The appointment was made within hours of the discovery of the documents. And just to defuse the inevitable: "Appointed by then-President Donald Trump, Hur served as U.S. attorney in Maryland, where he set strategic priorities and oversaw one of the largest and busiest U.S attorney offices in the country. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, praised Hur's appointment. "Former Maryland US Attorney Rob Hur is a prosecutor of the highest caliber and integrity. I have faith in his ability to get the facts and hold power to account. In this country, no one is above the law," Hogan said in a press release. Hur also spent time as principal counselor to Rod Rosenstein, then Justice's deputy attorney general in the Trump administration, to oversee all components of the department."
I didn't go back and look at Bragg's quotes, but I think that criticism is very warranted if Bragg campaigned on prosecuting Trump. Entirely improper and unprofessional IMO, and I'm not sure how it's not an ethics violation. I said before that I think it looks bad to have a state attorney going after a former President for acts that occurred years earlier and after the Federal government declined to prosecute - particularly when the underlying conduct being covered up was an affair. I also said it reminded me of Ken Starr's efforts to find anything he could on Clinton. None of those concerns seem to apply here with the Federal charges against Trump. Yet Trump is making pledges that will taint any ultimate investigation of the Bidens under a second Trump term.
If he’s elected President and able to serve (not in a jail cell), then if the facts warrant it, go for it. Might be good for the Country to just do it. And if there is no prosecution(like Hilary), maybe people would just shut up about it once and for all.
I wish all left-leaning posters were like you. I am not a fan of the Clinton fiasco in the 90s either. I think that was politically motivated as well.

Like three posts down you cleared it up. My impatient response typed that post before I saw the clarification.
Both sides seek out and focus on inconsistencies and hypocrisy on the other side - I suppose to justify their own. I'm sure we have all been guilty of it to some extent, but it shouldn't dictate or justify how we come down on something. Getting caught up in that vortex is enough to make one's head hurt.
I have a lot of respect for that sort of mentality, but I think that's also a luxury for the side with the bulk of institutional influence and control. I would say "traditionalists" had that luxury in the 50s while "progressives" have that luxury now. It's a lot easier to be that way when you have the institutional winds at your back. Doesn't always work out in your favor, but it helps a Hell of a lot if it does more often than not.
In an ideal world, Biden would pardon Trump and Trump would pardon Hunter/Biden Family. That's our best bet with unity on this issue. Is it perfect? No. Will there be some folks saying that politics and elitism is a country club and luxury for the privileged? Sure. But that's a far better alternative to me than Biden's DOJ targeting Trump and Trump's DOJ targeting Biden.
Yep, I have come to believe that the media is simply an ugly reflection of America. It's a symptom not the disease. All of us, broadly speaking, need to be better.
These same arguments were persistent in the 1950s too, liberal commie professors, civil rights disruptors, New Deal liberalism dominant in politics, union membership near its peak, the Warren Court, the post-war technocracy expanding, etc. I dont think American liberalism has ever been a stronger institutional and political force than the period you mention as being "traditional."
