UF stands at 8 commits as I write this, however it is my belief that number will rise in the next few weeks. UF is hosting a lot of big time talent and based on rumors, Insider chat I believe UF will once again sign a very good class. I had concerns as many of you did about the OL and DL but I can tell you I feel much better about where things seem to be at now. NIL: Gators Victorious is the new group and they just concluded a very successful fund raising campaign. Time will tell where they stand in comparison to the Big Boys but I feel comfortable saying the gap has closed and should continue to do so. I also believe UF will pull a shocker 2 or 3 that no one saw coming in regards to top talent. NIL is also going better in the other sports as well from what I'm reading and hearing. Names to Watch: UF will have a huge month of OVs during June. I would not be shocked if 6-8 commits come in by months end. BY position- follow the visits WR Jeremiah Smith, Smith would be a huge pull and may be too difficult to wrench from the Suckeyes but the Staff and Lagway are doing their best. I still project him to OSU but hold out hope. UF shot 20%. TJ Moore. Moore is at the top of the board and UF sits in a very good place with Moore. UF shot 75% Jerrae Hawkins, right there on the board with Moore, I put UF chances at 70%. Chance Robinson recently de-committed from scUM. He will visit UF and I don't have a good enough feel to put a % on him but I do believe there is legitimate Iinterest. My bet today would be 3 WR with Smith a +1 in this class. TE: Amir Jackson and Walter Matthews have been the top two targets at TE. I say have been because UF secured a visit from Vol commit Jonathan Echols. It is said Echols wants to play TE but many including UT list him as an edge. Regardless, I am hearing 2 TE's in the class. To me that signals somebody or 2 leaving in the portal next year in an already crowded TE room. I expect UF to garner at least one of the 3 listed above. OL- the big question for many and this may be the position where we see an unexpected surprise. Ethan Calloway Marcus Mascoll Mike Williams Ory Williams-late name out of Texas Fletcher Westphal Michael Uini Liam Andrews I've stated several times I expect 4 HS OL signees. While this list in not exhaustive I believe most of the OL class from this group. If you had Joseph Ionata in your mock, take him out as he committed to Bama. So as not to get too long I will keep this to one side of the ball. Some final notes I could be wrong but I do not expect Simmons to reclassify. Regardless, we will all know soon enough. Look for UF to add one more guy to the roster soon for this year. I'm really starting to like who I think UF will get on DL for 24 and if they do, it will be a great addition to what UF signed last year and the year prior. Candy
Just a guess but something tells me the Ole Miss visit may be related to the reclassification issue. Maybe the parents are the ones wanting him in school now and UF is preferring he wait until next year or the other way around. I just don't believe both sides are on the same page regarding this issue. This visit may be their leverage to try to get what they want.
I’m not certain we lead for any of the OL mentioned above. Been adding a few 3 star OL offers and visits recently. We are top 2 for a few but no OL recruit has stated we are a clear leader yet. Hoping Marcus makes it out of LSU visit this weekend without committing, as due to visit us following weekend. Hope we hit it on some top OL commits this cycle.
Agree IGWT - We were able to get Cade late in the cycle last year and wound up with 4 OL but missed on the higher rated prospects. I'm still a bit at a loss as to understading "WHY" UF is struggling at this position. Not one but TWO Offensive line coaches with NFL contacts? An offense that empahsises the "RUN". Stud running backs and yet, O Line recruiting has been a bit of a disappointment. Hopefully summer changes that.
Drop bags big enough to make a difference. All things being equal, there’s a few teams we may need to overbid against.
While I understand the ‘bags’ sentiment, I am about convinced that we are all Pulling for a program Whose admin is simply NOT going to Go ‘all in’ on the outbidding the bidders strategy. We may face the prospects of ‘adjusting’ our realistic expectations of The program.
I think that has been apparent for a number of years now that the institution as a whole had no stomach for playing the sleaze game. Now with NIL legal, it will be interesting to see if it will change course....stay tuned I guess.
Someone tell me again HOW the (close) works? How in the hell does CBN "CLOSE" on a prospect? Coaches are not allowed to discuss "dollars" ---- is this correct? So hows it work? CBN calls a prospect and his handlers (or parents) into his office and gives them a scholarship offer. THEN WHAT???? If he (CBN) can't discuss MONEY what does he do? Are the NIL folks in another room down the hall to discuss dollars and he sends them there? Or does Billy hand them a note with a phone number? LOL Exactly how does it work if Florida Victorious makes an offer and the kid counters a little higher than what they want to pay? In this scenerio are we to believe that CBN and Victorious aren't on the line discussing the situation? Or is it exclusively up to Victorious to "Do The Deal"? (YEAH RIGHT!) N.I.L. as currently structured: FUBAR
